In 2 Samuel 13:1-21

Not only did he rape his sister, but God did not smite him for it, and his father David did not punish him or subject him to any ridicule. TWO years later, his brother Absalom killed him.
I think the details of the rape were disturbing. Am I right? Maybe Christains were explained why this was put in there? God did not punish him, so?

Beekay: that is an excellent point that you have! But God smitted many men for lesser reasons-- Like When Tamar lost her husband and the brother needed to impregnate her. He 'pulled out' and 'spilled on the floor' and God killed him for that.
So why not kill Amnon for the wretched rape of his sister?

Thankyou Minister for your answer. I did not think about that. But I thought the sins of the father did not reach the son?

This is a tragic story. It exemplifies the Sin's of the Father coming upon the Children. David had committed Murder, and Adultery, because of this, the wrath of God struck his whole Family.

I also agree with Beekay that Amnon did suffer God's Judgment, First at the hand of his Brother, then in Hell. It is often noted that we never see the Evil punished in this life, but there is always Judgment with God.

This was all part of the household calamity that resulted in David's sin. For this reason Absalom had him killed, thus Amnon could not reap the throne ship that was due him. Of course what his father David did was even worse, however David was forgiven because he was repentant. If you read the bible you will notice that God may not intervene at every moment, however he does not exempt a person for reaping the consequences of their actions. The bible says that "death is the penalty for sin", so upon death ones sins are absolved. I hope this helps, if not feel free to email me with further questions if you like.

God judges ALL sin without exception. For believers, our sin was punished on the cross. For unbelievers, their sins will be paid for by eternal suffering in hell.

Why God choses to smite some people from the earth EARLIER than others is a mystery of His sovereign good pleasure. But everyone dies (at the time sovereignly determined by God). His justice is not determined by how long He lets someone live before taking there life. If Amnon had been killed two years earlier, would that have made God more just? No. God metes out justice in His own time.

He was killed. I think that counts as punishment. However many times things do go without justice but God has declared that a judgment day is coming. How much better to have been punished in this life then the next.
