I have been so depressed so I decided to find a counselor thru internet. I live in a country wherein counseling isn't very common. I saw a web of a center so I sent an email. After couple of days a counselor phoned me & asked about my problem . We talked for like half hour. I asked him when can I visit his center and he said better do it on phone for a while because he is busy. after 3days he called me again and asked me how do I feel, .I said I didn't get good sleep he told me to touch myself or use a vibrator with warm oil to make me feel relax at night. I was a bit amazed! I didn't react on what he said because I was thinking that he is an American and surely has different mentality than me with regards to that sort of thing.
I asked when can I meet him at his center so he arranged on a week end but then he called me again and said he can't make it in his center. Instead he wanted to go to my apartment for effective counseling. Is it common?

this guy is NOT a professional, he sounds like a pervert who's trying to take advantage of you! no mental health professional is going to advise you to solve your issues by using a vibrator - unless you are working with a sexual health counselor and even then its in a controlled setting and not over the phone. second, who cares if the guy is american, he could be a total loon. his so called "center" should have more than just one person working there, i mean no receptionist? nurse? psychiatrist? he manages the whole shop by himself, i don't think so! cut off contact with this guy. if you really believe in this guy ask for his credentials and check them out - however I wouldn't know how you could prove they are legit ot not. go to the hospital and speak to someone in the psychiatric unit; tell them you are experiencing a mild deppression and you would like to know if they can refer you to a mental health professional. if all else fails, continue searching until you find a place you can go to. while phone contact may be helpful i think what you need is real face-to-face counseling with someone licensed in this profession.

Sounds very weird... Firstly, go to the centre and see if it exists... You should always have these things in a professional environment... And no Counsellor I know of suggests vibrators... I WOULD, but then I'm not a Counsellor!!! :D
And certainly don't have this man come to your house...

That is not a normal form of counseling.
Do not call this guy back and inform him not to contact you.
Hopefully you did not give this guy any financial information.
If you did go today and change your accounts.

I wouldn't go there! This doesn't sound ethical or professional at all. Do not let this person into your home, god only knows what might happen to you.
