The metal material for the "black box" is not the same as what the plane body is made from (much more dense), so the engines would need to provide a MUCH more massive amount of thrust the even be able to get it off the runway, and that would be just the empty plane. Include the weight for the larger engine, the amount of fuel needed to burn, all the passengers, luggage, equipment and food and that's even more weight to move.

Two more things:
1) The "black box" is not actually black, but a bright orange color, which is useful when there is a crash and makes it easier to distinguish it among crash debris.

2) Planes are checked over berfore leaving the terminal. The reason "black boxes" are necessary is to analyze what went wrong in the event of an accident. What is learned provides insight so that corrective measures can be put in place in other planes/crews/patterns/warnings/etc to ensure that more crashes will not occur for the same reason.

The thing is that the body of the plane is made of aluminum and the black box is another kind of metal....I think titanium and this metal is heavy...

If a whole plane is made out of it then it wouldn't fly at all. Besides, this would be too expensive . Imagine air transportation being available only for the TOP 10 richest people in the world

And Lastly, for as long as there had been thorough check-up before take off, and the pilot maneuvers the plane well, you have a good flight

Bon Voyage (if you are going to ride a plane soon)

There are two reasons they dont make airplanes like a Black Box. 1. Cost. The airplane would cost so much that airlines would not be able to afford them. 2. Weight. Airplanes would weigh so much that they would never make it off the ground.

An airplane made of heavy gage steel filled with styro foam and filled with steel I-beams wouldn't be very comfortable and wouldn't get off the ground too easily would it?

i used to make the "black boxs" for trains in my local area ours where very bright orange however. they arn't inderstructable just very tough. ours are made out of .075" thick cold rolled steel and welded up real nice. and you can't make the plane out of it cause it would be a boat anchor it would weigh so much.

Second time this dumb question has been asked in 24 hours.

Same reason they don't make ships out of rock, which does better in arguments with the sea.

one very simple reason weight. on airplanes everything is about weight and if its 2 much it not going to take off so thats why they use foil and not steel
