Ketchup is king.
There may be other pretenders to the throne, and they have their place in the royal court of table sauces, but will never be the king of the dinner table.

I only ever have ketchup with American style french fry chips, everything else gets brown sauce (or The King of Sauces as it is also known). I do like BBQ but only have it on a very few occasions, usually for a change. Brown sauce is my sauce of choice, I have it with cheesy foods like cheese on toast - delicious!
Tartar sauce (not just for fish!), mayo and Tabasco are other tasty sauces.

Top suaces are; Heinz tomato ketchup. HP brown sauce. Bullseye b-bq sauce and just for good measure Taylors English mustard. Except no substitues and the quality of your life will improve.

BBQ sauce on burgers, for example if i have a McDonald's i always ask for it plain and then get loads of BBQ sauce to put on it.
Has to he hp brown sauce on a bacon sandwich, sausage sandwich or with a fry up.
Tomato sauce i hardly eat, only if i mix it in with tuna and salad cream or on some toast. Now salad cream i love with everything. Its lovely with pizza, salad, mixed into mashed potatoes...the list is endless.
But with chips, i have nothing. No need for any sauce just loads of salt and vinegar!

Beef Burger - Burger sauce
Chicken Burger - Mayonnaise
Fish - Tartar/ Thousand Island
Chips - Ketchup/mayonnaise
Bacon Sarnie - Brown Sauce
Chicken - BBQ
Beef - Gravy
Hot dog - Mustard & Ketchup
I can go on but i think you get the gist!

Ketchup for chips when eaten with fish fingers.
BBQ sauce for chips when eaten with burgers.
HP Sauce (brown sauce) for sausages and cottage pie.

Not a fan of tom sauce or brown sauce but i do like bbq.......if it for fries though mayonaise is the way to go yum.
