Carpel tunnel is created when you use your hand the same way, the same time every time, each time, for long periods of time. The sheaths around the tendons of the carpals tend to irritate and then become infected. This can be seen with the swelling. This can be improved with a wrist band holding them in to give them support.
Sometime it can get out of hand and then surgery is in the picture. The carpals are simply scraped to clean them, a simple surgery.

What kind of info are you looking for? I just had the surgery in August & it took a good 8 weeks to heal. My had was very weak and it is uncomfortable during the healing process. Now that I am healed, I'm so glad I had the surgery as I am pain free and I can hold stuff without dropping them! It is a fairly easy procedure, took about 1/2 hour, outpatient surgery & darvocet for pain & I was good to go!!
