is the most pathetic demonstration of cowardice there is! i remember in marine corps boot camp, the guide and the squad leaders use to give frequent blanket parties. but there were two black recruits, from the wrong side of the track told the guide and squad leaders, if they EVER think of giving them a blanket party, all four wont make it out of MCRD in one peice, or rather, in good health. them two guys never got blanket partied, they were avoided. to me this is the biggest show of cowardice.

I don't exactly understand your statement.
The blanket party serves a certain purpose. It is a last resort measure to instill upon a recruit that he or she is failing and not putting forth enough effort to support the platoon. These individuals are commonly the "it's all about me" people and cannot grasp the concept that everyone must pull their weight and make a contribution to the team.
The blanket party is a means in which the individual is given a beating by a person or persons unseen. By not being seen, this represents the beating is being sanctioned by the entire platoon and that the platoon feels that in the best interest of all involved that this individual either gets their crap together or their will be more parties. In combat, everyone has to be counted on or someone will not be coming back. It's better to learn that in basic training than when the crap hits the fan.
I was a Marine and I do see the need for certain ways and means to motivate an individual when all else fails. If you want to serve than you need to be able to stand up to the task - it's not for everyone.

Usually a blanket party is a means of exerting peer pressure, although it is a very violent way to do so.
We had them in Army basic as well, but they were only used on people who either did things that made us lose privileges, or on people who just would not do what they were supposed to do. For example, we had a female in our squad who just would not bathe. She was absolutely disgusting, and I think she was probably trying for a Section 8. She got a shower party instead of a BP and she started bathing after that. All we did was drag her into the showers and force her to wash her hair and body. No violence or beating took place.

but you also got to remember it does serve a purpose, if you have recruits that are not following what they are being told to do and messing up the rest of the platoon, yes some kind of heavy peer pressure should be applied to that individual, because if that recruit makes it out of boot camp still not knowing what he or she is doing they might make a mistake that will cause lies. your probably one of those that got the party. in my day we just tied people up and put them in a corner for a while until they got the idea

I remember in basic training we gave a guy a blanket party. It was the first sign of teamwork an camaraderie that my platoon showed. Still brings a tear to my eye.

I think the closest you ever got to Marine Corp boot camp was the front gate as a visitor

I don't remember any of these when I was in Army Basic in 91. I have heard about them, and there was talk because this one gal kept smoking in the latrine. Boy did the Senior Drill give it to her!

Nice statement..... What is your question?

And besides...you are incorrect. The most pathetic & disgusting demonstraction of cowardice? Those A**hole Muslim Terrorists who hide behind their masks while killing and butchering bound and helpless captives and claim that it is the will of Allah...or make no claims at all. Every one of them is the definition of coward.
