My husband is collecting a Ping set of clubs. He has the basic set of irons and official Ping bag as his 25th anniversary gift from his work. He would like to add the drivers. I would like to get him a club for Christmas, but I have no clue which club would be the best choice for his first driver to his collection. I don't know much about golf, but I know "loft" has something to do with it? What would you suggest for great distance teeing off?

G2 driver is not a bad choice. I'd suggest loft >=10.5 degree with normal or senior shaft flex.
Taylormade R5 can be the other choice.
There is one in http://www.rockbottomgolf.com/14tayr5dualmrh.html
Choose the one with 10.5 normal type D. It is priced at $169.9
The club face "close" a little bit so a weekend golfer (who usually slice) can launch the ball straighter thus getting more distance.

The G2 driver is good. However, the new drivers from Ping are G5 and Rapture. I think the G5 is much cheaper and probably just as good as the Rapture. Hope this helps.

The G2, G5, and Rapture are all very solid drivers. The main thing to make sure you get right is the shaft flex. See if you can find out what his swing speed is. The faster the swing, the stiffer the shaft.

hi,
ok, with loft you have a choice between 9 degrees and 11 degrees, the more advanced the player, the less loft you want, and the less loft you have if you can swing right, the further your ball will go, so thats with the loft, the other thing you have to look at is the lenght of the club, a golf dealer should tell you the ideal length for your husband's height.
