Poki, while I agree with you to some extent, I rather not base islam on my opinion or your opinion. Our opinion doesn't matter right? It is the foremost the Quran and next the Sunnah that matters. It is good that you quote from the Quran these verses that seems to contradict violence. BUT I must remind you that the Quran also contains many verses that prescribe violence to unbelievers and peaceful muslims. A sample of them would be

Qur'an 2:191 "And kill them wherever you find and catch them. Drive them out from where they have turned you out; for Al-Fitnah (polytheism, disbelief, oppression) is worse than slaughter."

Qur'an 2:191 "And kill them wherever you find and catch them. Drive them out from where they have turned you out; for Al-Fitnah (polytheism, disbelief, oppression) is worse than slaughter."

Qur'an:9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."

Dear fellow muslims, why do you take it out on me when it is the ISLAMIC clergy government of the ISLAMIC republic of Somalia that is intending to pass this law? Why do you say I mis-understand? So what if I mis-understood? That's not going to help the poor people of somalia. The ISLAMIC clergy of Somalia, people who have spent years and years researching the Quran and the various Hadiths came to this conclusion, not me.

There is nothing in the Quran that says you must die if you don't pray 5 times a day. If the government want to impose laws like this then the government is at fault not Islam. How are they going to impose this law anyway? Are they going to have an officer of the law stand over every Muslim at every pray, its just not feasible and totally barbaric and ridiculous. Somalia government need to be removed if that's the case. Islam is a submission of your heart no one can force you to follow the rules of Islam and those that do will be punished by God I'm sure.

Please get your facts corect. Beheading is not a game in Islam. The sanctity of life is of utmost important and it is for only specific crimes that this is done --- that too when it has been proved in a competent court of law without any shadow of doubt.

What a person, group of people or a country does is not necessarily reflective of Islam. The only source is the holy Quran and Al-Hadit, the sayings of the holy prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him).

I hope that you do not mind if I point out that your question can be turned around and we Muslims can also ask similar questions eg. Dear Christians, will you agree that Nazi atrocities, Spanish genocide of native Americans and similar instances are reflective of your faith? I am sure that your answer will not be any different from what I have given above.

Please also bear in mind the fact that sometimes the media does not report correctly. And there are so many instances of a media person going out of all the way to search and find an exceptional case to generalise it. We have a general feeling that Fox is anti-Islam and anti-Muslim in all its presentations even when the basic facts may be correct. So I would suggest that this news item should be taken with a pinch of salt.

So as far as the prayers are concerned, we have the life and sayings of the holy prophet in fron of us. He never never forced any one even on that.

Peace be upon you, I agree there are 5 prayers an afternoon. whether, some human beings, based on the interpretations, have confidence there are basically 3 prayers because of the fact the Quran mentions basically 3 prayers by using call; Salatul Fajir (24:fifty 8), Salatul Wusta (2:238), and Salatul Isha' (24:fifty 8). yet purely like the checklist you suggested above, all 5 prayers are suggested the two by using call or description. Peace Joseph S

Poki Poki has it right. It says nothing about this in the Quran, that if a person does not pray five times a day they get killed
because if you pray to God with no sincerity, then it means nothing. You have to have faith in your heart when you pray to God. "No Compulsion in religion" means just that! You can not force someone, they have to do it on their own volition. If modern day countries want to twist things around and make them scary, it is not Islam--- it never tells that as a law.

Bukhari:V1B11N626 "The Prophet said, ‘No prayer is harder for the hypocrites than the Fajr. If they knew the reward they would come to (the mosque) even if they had to crawl. Certainly I decided to order a man to lead the prayer and then take a flame to burn all those who had not left their houses for the prayer, burning them alive inside their homes.'"

Actually as we can see above ,those who kill people that dont pray 5 times a day are true muslims ,they follow nothing then sunnah. If their holly books says so ,they do so .

The same ,those who kill muslims for apostasy are also true muslims following nothing then sunna .
Bukhari:V4B52N260 "The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him.'"

No I wouldn't approve

Becaus in Islam, there are specific punishments in ISlam for everything. If I am not wrong, it lashing???

Parents are supposed to enforce a bit of authority on their kids. So do the respective spouses. So I don't think it is to the extent of killing. I mean, if for stealing n robbing it cutting hands, then it isn't beaheading for not praying.

About the voilent verses. U've got it all wrong. For one thing, when we read the Quran, it is clearly stated that Muslims are supposed to fight when the enemy fights. If there is a 'voilent verse' it is immediatly followed by a peaceful verse. IF somebody attacks your house or ur family, yes, u have to defend it even if it is with a gun. But if he dosn't aim to kil you, you shouldn't shoot either. That's how it goes.

If that were true, the entire mulim population would be dead! It is difficult praying five times a day. Thats why there is so much reward for those who do, and God knows that. And all the quotes you quoted from the Quran, u forgot to put the line preceding it, where it says for example

2:190 "Fight in the cause of God only those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors.

u see, Islam believes in tit for tat.

this is just one example, i can give you many many more to argue each of your quotes. ur a smart *** to include just the lines that argue ur point, u have to include what comes before and after only then do u get the real picture.

This is against Sharia law.
Praying is a requirement but is not accepted unless by the pure will of the person praying.
In Islam, Christianity and Judaism Prayer is not genuinely accepted if you are doing it to satisfy the will of man and not God.

So these people are in a sense bowing there heads to the men that will kill them and not to Allah or God if it is by force and not will.

What Poki Poki said is correct. The majority of what is portrayed about Islam, and Muslim people is not true to the actual religion, and especially the Quran.

COUNTRY MUSIC clearly portrays the current American attitude of what he thinks Islam is about. Although deeply untrue, it will continue to be believed by him and many others, simply due to ignorance and intolerance.
