Try dark blond highlights and lowlights a little darker then your natural colour. It really gives your hair some dimension.

auburn would look really well becuase it a brownish red color so it will look great. it will also be subtle in a way because when people get blonde highlights like bleach blonde with dark brown hair it looks tacky.

auburn streaks , caramel streaks (light brown) or blonde streaks.. but not too light... more dark blonde.
