i can think of all sorts of reasons why...

like the guys that tried to get a rattlesnake to drink beer, and then toss it back and forth between them?

or people who get sensitive parts caught in vacuum tubes?

or people that get... props... stuck in funny places?

say, if you were admitting people into the ER, and a guy came in with something funny stuck in/on a funny place, and it was entirely his own doing, would you be tempted to move him back in line a spot or two?

I work in an ER. We often ask this question.

Unfortunately, the amount of damage done is really the most important thing, not how they got into that situation in the first place.

I've been witness to at least 6 foreign body in rectum cases, and even though these people ARE generally mocked, they are often assigned a higher acuity level (meaning, they get seen quicker, as more problems could arise). Many are sent to emergency surgery if it can't easily be removed by the ER doc. It's very funny, theoretically, but serious consequences can arise. Example: one man with a shampoo bottle in his rectum, all fun and games, until the shampoo began to leak, and seep into his bowel. That man ended up with a permanent colostomy.

So, yeah, as nice a thought as it is, stupid = dangerous, and dangerous = serious injuries. Serious injuries = free pass to the front of the line.

If you have an emergency, it doesnt matter HOW you got in that predicament...

Remember, everyone does something "stupid" or, it wouldnt be an emergency!! Falling off something, (breaking a limb), reckless driving, (accident victim), and there are so many variables for each accident, that its incredible...

So, no one has an emergency for nothing, each thing is mostly avoidable, but through carelessness or dumb circumstances, something happens that your in need of an emergency technician and a trip to the hospital for treatment...

So, in other words, if its not a heart attack, or stroke or something like that, we wouldnt "have" an emergency room??? hmmm
I would bet that there are a lot of people who would be unemployed if that were the case...

I wish you well..

As a nurse, i will assure you the respond is not any. No way, if that's life-threatening... I even have additionally worked with handicapped human beings and autistic little ones without conversing of anorectic females. The final ones are each so often so far which you would be able to very nearly call them suicidal... And that's extremely although to get a number of them back heading in the right direction... precisely like numerous suicidal human beings, they're placed on one to a minimum of one care. So if regrettably a one-time tasteless comedian tale turns undesirable, how can we be judgemental? the completed device attempt to assist human beings no longer of their precise techniques, do no longer you spot? And the jokers you're conversing above are element of it...

Most people get hurt doing something dangerous. You'd have to call it stupid or foolhardy. Emergencies are emergencies though and if a person is horribly distressed, even as a result of thier own idiocy, then they obviously need help as soon as possible. I wonder how son they ought to be let go to commit more stupid acts to hurt themselves, especially in tender areas!

Tricky question...but at the same time, don't we all have accidents because of neglect and or stupidity? Car accidents are often caused because of one idiot being careless. So if we reasoned that all idiots should be made to wait in the emergency room...well....who would the doctors be treating?:)

YOu know.. I havent thought about that before, but YES.. now that you mention it.. Why shouldnt they have to wait.. If they are ignorant enough to put themselves there, then why should I in my accident of innocence, like an asthma attack have to wait 2 hours while the joy machines get their turn ahead of me?
