You should get Christmas on your right leg and Thanksgiving on your Left leg. Then tell everybody to eat between the holidays.

I have always heard to think about anything permanent for at least 6 months, if not a year. The longer you think about it the better because if you still really want a tattoo after a year, then you might as well get one. Once you get one, a lot of people say they are a bit addictive and you might want to get more. Tattoos can be expensive and if you want more after the first one you need to be able to afford it. Think about your design too and any meaning behind it. Don't just get something that is cool now - my first tat was almost a penguin because I was drinking Bud Ice Lite at the time and I thought those penguin commercials were cool. I am very glad I didn't get the penguin. I currently have 6 tattoos and they are in places that won't be seen by just anyone. 5 are on my lower back and the 6th is on the inside of my heel (painful!). I hope to get one more on my other heel and another one on my back. All are and will be small, about an inch and a half by an inch and a half. All have meaning to me and can be easily explained.
SO, think about it for a significant amount of time, consider the physical and actual cost, and good luck!

I have 2 tattoo's on my lower back. It's all worth it.You should make that decision on what you want permanent on your body not I. There are so many symbols and tribal and other beautiful images you can put on your body. If you do decide weather you want a tattoo make sure you choose the right artist.
p.s. I post my picture of my tattoo on http://www.likemytattoo.com

Funny you should ask this because I just planned my tattoo last night...
I'm getting a star that has bits coming out of it that are swirly and kind of tribal (it's hard to explain) and then there are little stars on either side. Underneath I'm writing Live Love Dream in Arabic (I grew up in Oman so it does mean something to me, I'm not trying ot be 'cool') and then underneath 3 dots because it means I love you.
Edit: 2 x 3 inches on my right hip

Tattoos are out. I like Bill Marr's joke: "Just because you have some Asian characters tattooed on you doesn't make you spiritual. It probably says beef and broccoli anyway." And you know what, this is true. I saw a girl on a show and she was from Asia and she was translating peoples tattoos and she said they just had the vaguest similarity to what they were supposed to say. It is not like a tattoo artist is a linguist from MIT or something

I have japanese cherry blossoms, and the famous tsunami waves on the top of my right foo, all the way up to my ankle. I am going to get it colored in soon. I am just trying to forget about how much it hurt the first time. All of my tattoos didn't hurt, except this one.

Well, I thought about it, and I came to realize the drawbacks
1) It HURTS
2) I'll get sick of looking at it for sure !
3) When I'm old and wrinkly, people will point to my tattoo and say "Is that a Contusion" ?
4) I can't disrespect myself by writing graffiti on myself
5) You can be a Genius, and when people see tattoo's on you, they think that you're a "Tattooed Moron".

I have 15 tattoos, and I plan on getting many more.
I sincerely hope that you do not get a Chinese symbol. :(

Get something you really like because you'll have to live with it. All seven of mine are very different. They're like my children, each there for a different reason, born under different circumstances, at different times of my life.
