It depends on what caused it in the first place.. Sometimes old age just brings on conditions that are just a natural state of growing old.. Our bodies just eventually wear out..
If its a pinched nerve, maybe some physical therapy could relieve the paralysis, or if its a slipped disc in her back, maybe back surgery.. Im sure her doctor knows her condition and can advice better than any yahoo asnwer user... goodluck!

I agree with Mintee. What is the cause of the paralysis? Stroke? Tumor? Nervous system disease? Your best bet is to sit down and discuss things with your granny's doctor. I understand your concern but Yahoo is not the right place to get your answers at this time.

Nerve Reconstruction and Paralysis Treatment - The Institute for Advanced Reconstruction
In recent years, the field of reconstructive surgery has been advancing at an astounding rate, particularly in the area of nerve reconstruction. New developments allow patients to regain function and restore appearance in ways that were almost unimaginable in the not-too-distant past. The Institute for Advanced Reconstruction offers world-class reconstructive treatments, from new advances in nerve reconstruction for paralysis treatment, to newer, more life-like methods of breast reconstruction. Patients from across the country and around the globe come to our practice in New York City and Shrewsbury, New Jersey, to receive many treatments that are only available in a few select locations worldwide.
The physicians of the Institute for Advanced Reconstruction are leaders in the field of paralysis treatment using nerve reconstruction techniques. With a variety of specialized surgeries, we can often restore a significant degree of function to patients who have suffered stroke and other forms of paralysis; treatment such as nerve transplantation may be able to help patients who at one time believed they had exhausted their paralysis treatment options. To help patients with nerve damage regain function, we also perform brachial plexus reconstruction, bells palsy treatment, radial and ulnar nerve surgery, foot drop treatment, and a whole range of other nerve reconstruction procedures.
Reconstructive Surgery Results
Plastic reconstructive surgery can restore a healthy, normal appearance to patients who have suffered some type of trauma. Our plastic surgeons have mastered a wide range of techniques that can help give you back a normal life.

hi.. if u can believe me, pl seriously try yoga i.e. prayanama i.e.u hv to follow the process of doing: bhastrika, kapalbhati, laum-vilom, bhramari, udgeeth -(see on astha channel- that guru ramdev ji). i remember taht my maternal grandfather was suffereing from some mysterious degenerating diesease n died of that, at that time i was kid, n still remember him saying/ asking ppl to help him to survive and deal with his pain/ misery... but nobody cd help him. later when i tried yoga (i wish if i cd save my maternal grandfather had i came to known abt this a bit earlier...), my personal experience is it not only gives u biological/ physical health benefits but psychological n spiritual benefits also.. pl. pl.. pl.. try it. it is very simple, effective, free of cost technique of healing yourself by doing simple breathing (laum-viloma). yr body knows hw to heal thyself. or u can consult some yogic guru who can teach u these exercises..
ur body has got all the healing powers... only the faith n awareness is required...
wish u all the best ... n regards n love to dear grannnny....
