Ok, the age thing is general as here in the US we can skip a grade or be held back a grade (or more!) depending on the test scores we acheive.
3-4 years old is preschool, usually not part of formal education and not required depending on local laws.
4-5 is Kindergarten (depending on what month you were born in. This starts grade school or primary school)
5-6 1st grade
6-7 2nd grade
7-8 3rd
8-9 4th
9-10 5th
10-11 6th (this starts 'middle school)
11-12 7th
12 - 13 8th
14-15 9th (high school)
15-16 10th
16-17 11th
17-18 12th
Anything after this is higher education - community college or university. Elective education in other words.
Hope this helps!

Depending on your birthday, and what state you live in, the age you are when you enter the 9th grade can vary from 14 to 16.

My daughter started school when she had just turned 5 years old. She is 13 now and in 8th grade, so when she turns 14, she'll be going to 9th grade.

Generally most kids will graduate between 17 and 18, but some not until they are 19 years old. Personally, I was 18 and a half when I graduated high school, but my daughter will be 17 when she graduates.

If you failed a grade, the ages could be different as well. In the United States we have Kindgergarten to 12th grade, with each successive of the prior year. Elementary school lasts 5 years (generally), Middle school 3 years and High school 4 years.

I hope that helps.
