If I could go back in time, that is exactly what I would have done.Build a savings fund and it will make life easier in the long run.

I have no choice the cost of living is too high where I live right now and it is hard to find a place. Many people moved to my city and are ending up living on the streets because they can not find a place to live or can not afford one. Even to rent. the city put city buses for then to stay in so they do not have to sleep in the street.

I think that it is ok if you help out at home give some rent if it is $100 or $50 a month

If you can stand to live by your parents rules for awhile longer, then yes I would say it's smart to live at home for a few yrs after graduation from HS. However, I don't think living there for free is the answer either. A set amount should be given toward rent /food/ utilities... this way you know what your looking at when you do move out on your own.

As long as you have good parents, I don't see a problem with it. I am a college student and there is no way that I could go to school full time and work enough to pay for housing. I work around 10-15 hours per week and that is just enough to pay for my car, insurance, food, and spending money. I save a ton by living at home. While you do sacrifice some of your freedom, I still think it is worth it.

I think if you are staying at home and trying to become a responsible adult, then you should stay at home. Sit down with your parents and make a realistic time table for when you will be leaving. Work with your parents to develop new house rules and your new responsibilities so you can contribute to your family. Pay rent, do chores, come in at a reasonable hour (not to disturb them). Make sure you have a job and don't get into debt.

Ya I'm in college but I ommute everyday.
I don't live that far away but I love staying at home.
I have no rent to pay as my parents wont accept anything. I wouldn't mind paying my keep. I work my keep instead.
I live in the country and the lights and the noise of the city drive me mad. I can go for a walk in the fresh air instead if the smog in the city.

I moved out at 17, I had to get out, but sure saving up money for your own place sounds good. It's just the girls who don't like the thought of a 21 yr old still living at home.

GET THE HELL OUT! My son is 22. Smart. Attending college. Good boy. Works. Treats me as if I was his maid. He has a great girl.

You have to worry about rent and bills. MOM AND DAD DO! Let me ask you this............Mommy is struggling hardcore...........needs 870 bucks to pay electric bill, has 232 bucks after paying rent, water, trash, insurance, car, credit, medical, food, gas, friends and family. AND ETC!

GET UP! GET OUT! A bird pushed out of the nest doesn't always know how to fly.............but, it better learn quick!
