Not as a direct result.

There would have to be germs in the air aswell. I know that its really difficult to catch colds in places such as the north pole, because it is too cold for germs to breed, they die as soon as they have left the body.

Yes you are absolutely right about having to be infected by the virus to catch a cold. You get colds from other people who have already got a cold. Mind you your Grandmother has given you good advice. I see girls walking the streets at weekends dressed for a boiling hot summer's day. You've guessed - I'm a granddad.

Being cold does lower your resistance but the way you catch it is from someone else, touch something they touched, and then you rub your eye or eat something or touch your nose, any of these things with out washing your hands will get you sick. A cold virus lives in warm places like homes and stores. Wash your hands and drink orange juice, a glass a day.

No, thats what our parents told us as children..."dont go outside with your hair wet, you will catch a cold!!".....not true. Cold and Flu are both viruses that you can only get when in contact with someone/something that has the virus.

usually, your immune equipment is uncovered and your physique fights off the an infection. You stay healthful. in case you have already been uncovered to the virus and presently have it on your equipment, getting chilled could cut back your immune equipment allowing the virus to enhance its carry and finally take its toll. for this reason it 'looks' which you get it from going exterior and getting chilly. Please word that obtaining 'chilled' is different from being in chilly climate. maximum human beings in chilly climate are not getting chilled until they are moist. So, your mom is sweet, yet not for the excuses she believes. additionally, summer time colds are caught in fairly lots the same way. somebody has a pandemic and passes it onto you. I accept as true with the poster above for each thing different than her very final paragraph.

I think that if you are cold, your defenses are reduced, making it easier for you to catch a cold. Hypothermia is not a cold and something else entirely related to freezing like in the antartic!
