It seems strange. Immanuel is first mentioned in Isaiah. The name is also prophecied in Matthew as referring to the messiah. I always wondered about this myself.
It's in the meanings of the names.
Immanuel means "With us is God"
Jesus is the Greek form of Yeshua or Yehoshua which means "Jehovah is Salvation".
We are lost from God through sin and death, but we become reconcile to God (or God becomes with us) with His plan for salvation (the only means of salvation open to mankind), by the ransom sacrifice of Jesus.
These are not the only names that the messiah is known by.
The messiah in his role as archangel is known as Michael, which means "Who is like God". This refers to the messiah's role as exemplar and champion of God. when we want to know what God thinks, what he wants us to do, say, think and feel, we need look no further than the messiah.
The messiah is also known as The Word. (John Chapter 1). This refers to his role as God's spokesman.
There are some titular names names listed in Isaiah chapter 9, each refering to a different role taken up by the messiah.

NOTHING!That was a mixed up prohecy.Jesus was never in his life called Immanuel. And just coz Immanuel means God-with-us, doenst mean that God came down literaly! The child,Immanuel was borne during the reign of King Ahaz as a SIGN that God is with the Israelites.
The whole translation was "mixed up" to make the Gospels more Believable. Jesus was also not the only Yahoshua(english, Joshua).Moses' successor had the same name and NO ONE called him GOD or Son of God(literally).

The last two letters, "el" is Hebrew for "God".Translated from Hebrew, "Immanuel" means, "God with us". The Christian religion teaches that when Jesus walked the earth, he was "God with us." But anyone who feels the "presence" of his own God, would be able to call it an, "Immanuel" experience.
In the Old Testament, are 3 variations of the name, El, Eloh, and Elohim.
Translated from Hebrew to Arabic, "Eloh" becomes "Allah". In each language, the accent is on the last syllable.

Immanuel means God with us.
Jesus spent 33 years on earth with us as a man.
Since then He has been with us and in us (Spirit filled people).
And He will be returning soon in the clouds as our King.

Jesus was God veiled in human flesh hence the name Emmanuel : God with us.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
In the Old testament God was seen above as a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day. In the New Testament he was seen among the people as Jesus Christ and was like one of us. Then now he is in the heart of every believer - God condescending to redeem mankind.
