The vet was most likely NOY lying to you. Parvo is a very contagious, deadly virus that often affects puppies that have been raised in poor living conditions and given inadequate food
.
If you have only had Tessa for a little while, then I can understand why your parents would not want to spend the money to save her, but the reality is that she is part of your family now and deserves the life-saving treatments that only the vet can perform.

You may also want to have the vet check your "ugly" pug. If you have only had it a little while then it may not be fully vaccinated against Parvo and could catch it from the chihuahua.

Above all, I would recommend NOT getting another dog from that pet store!! If they sold you a dog with Parvo, then there's no telling what other kinds of diseases the other puppies have.

While there is not a "miracle" sure for Parvo, the only chance to save your dog's life is to let her be seen by the vet and let the vet do the Parvo treatment!

I'm sorry but it does sound like your puppy has parvo. It usually never has a good outcome. Sometimes there is but it can be very expensive. It you just got the puppy and it cost that much, you should have gotten some kind of health grantee, and I would take her back where you got her and tell them you want your money back, or a replacement. You shouldn't be worried about how much money you are out for buying her clothes and booties and all of that, for crying out loud, your puppy is sick and dying!! Have a little compassion about that, and not what money you are loosing on accessories. The vet would not lie to you on what he believe your puppy has, but if you don't think he is right, or want a second opinion you have every right to take her to another vet and ask them. If you puppy does have parvo though be careful, it can be contagious to other dogs, even after it leaves the home. If you bring another dog or puppy into the home if you decide to get rid of this one that one could be infected with the same disease if you are not careful.
Good luck with your puppy.

Hi, if you are really serious, parvo is not good, most dogs do die, the best you can do is give her lots and lots of fluids (drinks) they dehydrate really quickly but that will also mean you may have to get up during the night for a couple of days to make sure she is getting enough to drink. When my puppy had parvo I mixed up a little bit of sugar and weetbix with water to give him food, it was really watery so he could just drink it but it got him through it. My first pup died from parvo and I was told by the vet that it stays in your yard and house for up to a year, so if she has got it you should not bring another puppy into your house for a long time or they may get it as well. Good luck it is not a very nice thing for puppies to get.

The only way a dog may survive Parvo is if she is given supportive therapy, that is intravaneous fluids. There is no cure, the dog has to fight the disease herself and we just have to support with fluid therapy. This must be done at the vet's; unfortunately it could be expensive.

I agree that the dog must have been already carrying the disease when you got her, so it is not your fault, nothing she ate at your house.

Let the vet give her intravaneous fuids.

Pray.

And make sure that you keep her as clean and warm as possible. She could get pneumonia as her immunity is seriously lowered. If she soils herself clean up and if wet dry her with a blow dryer and wrap her in a blanket after that.

I will pray for her.

And if you want to go on to college you will have to improve your spellings and grammar. And don't own a dog because you want to sell its pups and make money. Own it because you want to love it through all sickness and health.

I hope she makes it. Keep us posted.

Good luck.

PS: Since the disease is contagious, keep your other dog away.

Any surface which she has been in contact with should be wiped with bleach to disinfect it.

If she is vomitting she should not be given any water to drink. Anyway your vet will tell you exactly what to do.

I am so sorry to hear about your puppy!

Unfortunately, parvo is a VERY serious disease - it is also
contagious. There's an FAQ about it at
http://www.workingdogs.com/parvofaq.htm

You don't mention how old you are, but I think that the
veterinarian or vet tech would be happy to answer any questions
you might have about the disease and its prognosis in your dog.

I would *HIGHLY* recommend that your father notify the place
that he bought the puppy from, and possibly the local humane
society. This puppy sounds like it came from a puppy mill.

Parvo is a serious disease, and considering your description of her poor condition, I'd say it's quite advanced.

As far as I know, there is no cure for Parvo and my understanding (I'm not a dog person) it is fatal.

As for your horrendous grammatical and spelling errors, perhaps a spell check is in order before you post another question.

Your daddy is using physical abuse to control you. It is illegal for a parent to hit in an abusive manner his/her child. You must confide in a trusted adult or secretly call the police department and tell them what is going on. If you are acting out is why he is hitting you, you might try not acting out and see it it works, but he still cannot hit you as he's the adult. Adults DON'T abuse kids in any circumstances. Get help as your life may be in danger. If he drinks or uses drugs and they influence him to lose control, he needs to be told on to help him. He may not know what he's doing when under the influence, but he MUST be stopped. If you have a mom, tell her. If you can't trust her to help you, follow my recommendations above. That's the only way you can get out of this horrible abuse which will affect you the rest of your life.

I am so sorry to say that it's probably too late for your puppy. Your puppy probably had Parvo before you got her. I think the best thing to do would honestly be to put her to sleep.

Edit: They probably lowered the price when they realized she was sick.
