I am thinking of taking my twins (boy & girl age 5) on holiday for a period of 3 weeks towards the end of February next year.

Do you think it would be a good idea if I take some study material from school, such as a reading book or simple maths questions such as adding and take away? The reason being that I thought they could do this in their spare time while on holiday, so that when they come back they will still be 'in tune' with school work.

Please advice.

If you are in the UK, the school will not officially sanction such unauthorised absences, and are instructed not to help by providing course work etc.

That is the official line, but if you talk to the class teacher, especially if there is other mitigating circumstances as to the timing of the vacation, I'm sure that he/she will be more helpful. Otherwise do arrange some little projects such as reading and numbers practise. Good luck!

Yes take some work with you but also try and incorporate thing from the holiday like counting etc to make it fun. It is important that children keep up with their education whatever their age. i assume there is a reason your taking them on holiday in school time but the best thing is to try and plan holidays during school holiday time and then there is no risk of damaging their education, especially in this day and age where education is everything.

Make it fun!

If you get creative you can find ways of making reading and simple math part of your holiday. Get help reading new signs that you see and have them count your change etc.

Enjoy your holiday!

PS: my kids love a new "educational" fun book even now and they are in grades 4 & 6. There is something fun about a new shiney fill in the blank book that gets them going!

confident, they might like going to Disney yet do no longer bypass in the process the spring or summer season because of fact they could be depressing because of fact it is so warm. you will possibly desire to bypass around November because of fact it would be cooler, yet little ones love Disney. Me and my husband bypass in line with annum and Disney is predicated around a baby's mind's eye from the minute you stress up, your hotel, even the place you consume. it relatively is a mystical adventure. Or, you need to objective seashores motel interior the Bahama's, it relatively is alittle costly besides the shown fact that it relatively is an unique trip it relatively is baby friendly besides. There are Seseme highway characters there and that's somewhat captivating. that's super which you're spending time learning super places on your little ones. i'm hoping you adult men have a mind-blowing time!

Being away from school so long, I would advise talking to the teacher and asking her to put together a little work for them. 3 weeks is a long time to be away from the classroom.

Are you taking them out of school to go on the vacation? If yes then I would take something to keep their minds active but dont overload them, let them have a holiday too!! If your not taking them out of school and it is a school holiday then dont make them do more work. Let them enjoy their holiday teacher free!!

That would be a wonderful idea. At that age, even lessons can be taught as a game. We need to keep our children's minds occupied with good things - they would enjoy it, and still be able to keep up in school when they get back.

You are a wonderful parent! Keep up the good work!!
