I know Xanax will calm me down, but will it interfere with my memory recall and performance during the exam?

It can, it can make you really sleepy and less alert. I wouldn't recommend it because if you don't know how you will react when taking it I wouldn't take it before an exam.

I don't think you'd want to be falling asleep or less alert while taking an exam. It does calm you down for sure, but unless you know how you will react I wouldn't recommend it.

If you have an exam in the morning, you can take it late at night and you should still be ok in the morning. Xanax has a half life of about 11 hours (http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/alpraz_cp.htm) This gives you some information on Xanax and the pharmacology of it. If you have the exam in the evening then taking it in the morning would be ok.

I hope this helps. Good luck on the exam!!

Xanax is essentially the same as Valium (diazepam) in terms of effect, but is used as a substitute as it is less addictive. To simplify the effect: it calms you down. I am on a much higher dose of Xanax than that (along with a cocktail of other drugs) as we speak, as I have severe Bi-polar Disorder (type 1) and am in a manic episode. I have no trouble holding down a steady job during my holidays and it does not interfere with my studies at Cambridge. It has never made me fall asleep unexpectedly. I don't think you need to worry about falling asleep in class, provided you are sleeping well enough, eating healthily etc.

I have done it before because I have horrible test taking anxiety. I get special accommodations now so I don't have to take it anymore, but yes it was very helpful for me. I took 0.25 mg about 20 minutes before my test and it was just enough to take the edge off and that's it. I had no problems with getting tired or memory.

will not be helpful... Xanax has many side effects, including drowsiness. Better try some natural ways

yes, but depending on how your body handles it, you may need to use a lower dosage. Break it in half.....may not make you as drowsy....

Not unless you overdose on the stuff...if one, or even half of one, makes you calmer, then I am sure it is alright...
