Is it worth the money? I'm curious as to what exactly we're supposed to do on this tour. Do we just ride the trolley or do we stop somewhere?

It takes you around the city to view various Christmas light displays--- you ride for about an hour. they stop at Honolulu Hale for a half hour where they have a big display of lots of decorated trees.
Its all very pretty and festive and fun---people on the trolleys sing Christmas carols, etc.
Worth the money? Hard to say... Depends on what you like.
Hawaii is a kind of hokey place--- if you like nature and things that are pretty much the same since the 1940's, you'll like it. If you crave big city excitement, or "culture" (art museums, concerts of any type, etc.) this is not the place for you.
