None if you stop by McDonald's on the way for snack, walking sure does work up an appetite, but you could jog a few steps every mile or so to offset the quarter pounder with fries? Unless you stop by Ben & Jerry's for an ice cream cone to cool down with, in that case just add another quarter mile or so until you can make it back home and raid the fridge for lunch, but cut out the box of candy after, and you should do just fine.

Losing weight wont just happen with you walking so many miles a day.
Someone could walk and still eaither eat like a pig, or eat all the wrong stuff.

Losing weight occurs when you burn more calories than you consume, while still maintaining the daily necessities the body needs to function properly

Many factors determine how much weight a person loses, as two people are not the same. Different body compositions, different eating habits, etc.

Id suggest either going to a library a bookstore or the internet to try finding a plan for you to follow that will keep you consistent with your task.

Then reevaluate after a month, and change it if its not working.

Just keep in mind, if youre new to losing weight -- one of the things that escapes most people is the first few weeks when you start to sweat -- everyone sees a drammatic improvement.
Its called shedding water weight.

Ever see those infomercials that promise so many pounds in the first 30 days?

Well tats because these people understand mst people are carrying alot fo water in their body.
So its normal for people to drop 5-10 pounds as soon as they begin a new workout regimen.

Its also normal for people to stop losing weight at such a drammatic rate after them first few weeks.
This is where most people meet there first true resistance.
This is why many people fail to continue - as they get discouraged.

Be advised that the average wight loss AFTER the intial water shedding -- is about 1 - 1 1/2 pounds per weight -- healthily.

So be smart, eat smart, dont try to do it all at one time, and hopefully your goal is to lose weight at a steady pace, vs looking for that quick fix that never seems to work for anyone

I have another answer posted to someone asking how to lose weight....feel free to read it, as the questioneer gave it a 5 star rating.

Hope it helps someone

You lose about 100 calories per mile, or 400 for four miles, so that's good. It might also help to cut a couple of hundred calories a day in food intake, too. If you do both, you'll lose more than a pound a week, which is a good loss. (A pound equals 3,500 calories.) Just walking four miles a day will result in a loss of 20 pounds in six months, or 41 pounds in a year. You don't want to lose weight too fast after the first couple of weeks: slow and steady wins the race and will help you keep it off.

exercise is great for the heart, unfortunately it doesn't do much to burn off cals from overeating, the fastest way to lose wt. is through calorie reduction, I lost 65 lbs in 6 months, exercise makes you hungry too, you should reduce caloric intake, walk about a mile or so, make sure that you are taking a GOOD multi-vitamin, you are reducing food intake, and nutrients as well. Eat 2 veggies with dinner, keep food simple and fresh (amazing ho w ell veggies taste when they are fresh) avoid, saturated fats (Fried food is death), and simple carbs (Sugar, candy, pasta, soda). I did the "special K diet", it worked for me, it's on the box, diets should be simple like this one, and you still get a real meal at dinner time, so you have something to look forward to at the end of your day, it's like cheating on your diet, but, you aren't, that's why it works !
