I've been awake all night worried about my bf having another seizure after today's episode of 5 of them. Took him to the ER today, and they gave him 2 mg of Ativan, and some Dilantin. And prescribed him something that starts with a T. What are the chances of him having another seizure or more tonight with having that medication earlier this afternoon?

He only has the seizures while sleeping, and I'm not sleeping so that he can get some rest. My concern is wondering how long that medicine will work... I'm worried if I go to sleep he'll have a seizure and i wont know it....

I'm sorry to hear about what you've gone through, it sounds like you both had a really rough day! Try not to stress yourself out over all this, because this is surely nothing you, yourself can control. The doctors gave him medications to relax him (the Ativan) and control his seizures (the Dilantin) and likely the other med was Tegretol maybe? (that's also a very common seizure med) There is always a chance he could have another seizure, and like the others have said, just be prepared that if he does, you just need to try to keep him safe (meaning, be sure he doesn't hit his head on anything, call 911 if needed, etc). You can't stress yourself out over all this, and worry 24/7. The doctors will require him to keep a watch on the level of his seizure meds in his blood to be sure that they're at a good level and that he's getting the proper amount. This will help to decrease the risk of him having another seizure. Since this is all so new for him, it might take a bit of time before the meds are at a good level for him, but just remember, this is something out of your control, all you can do is be there to support him the best you can, and the rest is in God's hands. As long as he takes the meds as the doctor ordered, and he follows up as told, that's all he can do until they get all the details of what works best for him at what dose, etc. Hang in there, he has a great partner in you to care for him so much! :-)

Depending on the causes of the seizures they could be a life long problem. The medication will help to minimize them and make them less frequent but currently there is no cure or permanent solution that I'm aware of. What you need to do is now how to respond to them, and make it as easy and comfortable for him if and when they do happen. Be prepared to act on his behalf while they are happening in public and make sure he is safe and not going to harm himself during the seizure. When he comes out of them be there to support him and seek medical help as quickly as possible.

Depends on whether the meds are sufficient to stop the convulsions. Just be prepared for any eventuality. A consultation with a neurologist will help your bf. Good luck!
