I take it you have a ford escort/fiesta
they are common for the indicatoir switch going faulty
two star screws at the top of the coloum and take the cover off
the switch is held in by a 10mm bolt
(replace the switch unit)
they are cheep at any motor factors

We have a KA and the exact same thing has happend to us we tried the fuses and they are fine. Will let you know if we find a solution.

you have lost power from your fuse box to your instrument panel which also powers the back lights
