Either you have sensitive teeth or your tooth has a hole in it, consult your dentist for a check up.

"Toothache" is pain typically around a tooth, teeth or jaws. In most instances, toothaches are caused by a dental problem, such as a dental cavity, a cracked or fractured tooth, an exposed tooth root, or gum disease.

Sometimes diseases of the jaw joint (temporomandibular joint), or spasms of the muscles used for chewing can cause toothache like symptoms.

The severity of a toothache can range from chronic and mild to sharp and excruciating. It can be a dull ache or intense. The pain may be aggravated by chewing or by thermal foods and liquids which are cold or hot. A thorough oral examination, proper tooth testing and evaluation, along with appropriate dental x-rays, can help determine the cause. What we want to know is whether the toothache is really coming from a tooth or somewhere else.

Happens. Nothing to be worried about. But I'd still say that you should check up with the dentist! Who knows, maybe you have a cavity or two that's causing the pain. And do it fast, else you'll have complications, root canal work...or you might even lose that tooth. Act fast. And no, I'm not a dentist :)

Good photo. It answers a lot of questions. Make an appointment and get it fixed. If you ignore it, it probably would be fine but the remaining sharp edges are going to begin to chip off. You'll loose even more of it. The dentin is exposed and since it's softer than enamel, it's more prone to decay. Just fix it.

You may be getting sensitive gums.
Try flossing or brushing the gum area when you brush the teeth to strengthen them. They also sell a toothpaste called "Sensodyne" (Sp?). I'm not sure if it's OTC or not.

Consult your dentist. Sounds like you may need to get your teeth filled.
