Hey fairy...everyones bodies different...best advice would be to talk to one of the instructors at the gym...thats what they are there for...with weight loss you probably won't notice any results yourself for the first 4 to6 weeks...but people around you will be noticing...just keep at it and the weight will drop off...make sure your eating healthilly try and cut out big time carbs - breads e.t.c.

Try and get the support of people around you ...make sure they know your training and don't let them try and tempt you...

excercise helps you in the long run...sculpts you and makes you feel better bout yourelf and whats round you!!

sorry i trailed off...3x a week you could lose that 4-5 months
( thats not a drastic weight loss - just a steady loss)
xx

one pound of fat is the equivalent of around 3500 calories. So you need to lose about 150,000 calories. This sounds a lot, but if you run and or swim 3-4 times per week for maybe half an hour a time at a reasonable heart rate, you should be able to burn around 1500 per week in addition to other changes.

Supplement the cardio with a few basic weights, nothing too hard, but high reps, especially on the legs (big muscles which take more calories to work) and the extra muscle tone will in turn burn off more calories just to exist. With a healthy diet, you should be easily able to burn 2 lbs per week off, which means in 21 weeks, plus probably a few more, you could have neared your goal.

Agree with the advice about speaking to a trained professional if you can afford one, or if they have one at the gym.

No-one can tell you how many times a week you should go to the gym except your doctor or health professional.
You need to combine exercise and diet to lose weight. Don't worry about the fad diets. At best their results are only temporary because they don't help you establish on-going good eating habits. You can eat as many fruit & veg as you like with moderate amounts of meat nuts etc and not too much dairy, fats & sugar. Don't cut out anything just eat less.
Do keep going to the gym & in between you can walk, swim dance, play any sport, etc as well. The variety will help keep you motivated.

2-3 times per week at first as your body probably wont take any more use all of the machines in the gym not just the ones you are comfortable on.
dont be self concious about the way you look there no-one cares.
Diet is key don't just stop eating everything you love just cut it down the fitter you get the less you will want to eat theese types of food trust me your body knows what it wants, if you crave orange juice drink it, if you feel like a carrot eat one your body will come accustomed to what it can get in certain foods.
one of my friends becky started going to the gym a year ago lost the weight fairly fast you could notice it after about a month- 2 months, she now goes to maintain her level of fitness.
if you don't notice straight away don't stop cos you may suddenly wake up and notice.
try low free weights, use a gym ball, if something feels easy it probably is put a bit more effort in go a bit faster.

Mainly talk to the Guys at your gym they will know how to help you and can help better than i can on t'internet.
Good luck and HAVE FUN

i did that myself.... what you should really do to lose wait is go there 6 days a week...take 1 day off 2 relax you mussels and energy... you workout should start with 30-45 Minuit's on a treadmill (fast walking not running) after that use the bike 20-30 minutes.... then the rest of the workouts can be provided to you at the gym from an instructor...also might be a good idea if you can attend an aerobics class....try to eat healthy food as well....all and all it should take you 2-3 hours a day to get fit really fast....worked for me

You should both work out and eat healthy. Hit the gym for at least three times a week, preferably 5 times if you want to lose your extra weight. Find exercises that suit you best, don't push yourself doing something you hate doing, you'll end up giving up all your exercise routine. Drink at least 90 oz of water a day, it'll help your body detoxify.

You don't want to start to fast, because you will burn yourself out. You might want to start going three days a week. Do cardio (treadmill, stairmaster, or elliptical machines) on the first and third day and do weight training on the second day. This will give you variety. Also, push yourself but don't kill yourself. Don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away. Not only do you go to the gym but you also need to make changes to your diet. Drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruit and vegetables.

If you are like me and don't have a lot of time to cook, I like to go to McD's. Which isn't always good, but they have a great Ceasar Salad with crispy chicken.

Work more on cardio. Also cut down on meat during dinner time. Go to the gym every second day so your muscles can have time to recover. Do light weights to gain lean muscle and heavy weights to gain bulk.
