I bought a new laptop. I have only the internet download from 2 softwares bought some 3 years ago. Since then, I lost the authorisation numbers.

Might I use only the "copy function" from Windows XP, to copy those softwares? I tried many strategies so far but it didn't work.

that will not work for most sophisticated software. You will need the original software and the authentication code to get most software to work. The copy function will not copy anything that the original program wrote to the registry or any links to other modules and software needed to run the program.

Most software can't just be copied and pasted. When you install software, the installation program inserts information into your system registry and other places on your computer that enable the program to run. When you simply copy the software over, the installation never sets your system up to run the programs you copy. There is no harm in trying it, because occasionally it will work, but in most cases, you won't have any luck.
