There are two main organizations that attempt to regulate online gaming sites; they are the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and eCOGRA. Gaming sites that are members of these organizations agree to be bound by certain rules and regulations regarding fair play, dispute resolution, and the like. In my opinion, sites that are members of these organizations are legitimate and can be trusted.

You can read more about these organizations at the following links:
Kahnawake Gaming Commission - http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/kahn.htm
eCOGRA - http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/ecogra.htm

You can use The Online Casino Gambling Directory to find gaming sites that are members of one or both of these organizations; click the link that corresponds to where you live:

None of the major ones cheat, they don't need to. The odds for any casino game always favor the house, whether you be playing online, or at a real Vegas casino.

The only game where that is not true is poker, where the house has no interest in who wins or loses because they collect a rake or tournament buy in fee.

The only true way to ensure online casinos don't cheat is to pressure the government to legalize online gambling. Then they can tax and regulate the industry in this country. Sites could exist with an official seal on them indicating they were based in America and subject to federal inspection and regulation. You would be able to click on that seal and be taken to a US government web site that would verify the authenticity and reliability of the site.

But realistically any major online casino is a major business. The only way to rig it would be to program it to cheat you. It would take just one programmer to become disgruntled and print out some evidence and the adverse publicity would ruin their business. It is for this reason that I trust major online casinos.

I trust the ones I play at, and I have to stake my reputation on the ones at http://www.buddyandoscars.com/casino_games.htm because I not only play at them, I run the site. I won't say others aren't legit too, but I could do like a lot of sites and promote ten times the number of casinos I do now, I just don't need any scams or unregulated casino's or sportsbooks on my site because it reflects back on me, so I did a lot of research before I decided which ones I would promote, and which ones I wouldn't.

Yes, depends which one. Stick with the big ones.

http://www.pinnaclesports.com located in Curacao. I don't know anybody who works there
http://www.bodog.com located in San Jose, Costa Rica. Own by the Calvin Ayre. I have some friends that work there.
http://www.americascardroom.com/ which belongs to http://betcris.com located in San Jose, Costa Rica. This one is own by Ron Sacco. They also own http://www.2betdsi.com/ and other smaller ones, but I forgot which ones. Some of the line movers are Tony (who loves Imperial - Costarican beer and the coolest guy ever) Jack (an old guy, never hung out with him), there's this cute Australian guy named Shawn...uhmm..I think a Pablo guy is the one who works on the Props, and I forgot who else. CRIS has I think 300-400 employees. People who work for the sport-wagering department are mostly college kids working part-time. Nick is the manager of the poker site. He is a very cute Canadian guy ^_^ who smoked a lot (hope he quit 'cuz he promised)
http://sportsbook.com who got bought out by http://www.vegasinsider.com/
https://www.bowmans.com this one is English.
http://poker.com

There're a lot more. They don't cheat because they care about real business and have no reason to cheat. And no, I don't work for them. But I can even tell you how their offices look like and what brand of coffee they drink. :-)

I don't play any casino games but I do place bets on sports everyday. I played poker once, and it's pretty fun. But as the guy above me said, the cheaters are the people who are friends and play as a team, and you'll never know who is doing that.

They have no reason to cheat. They make money whenever you play. Certain players cheat by playing as a team. Others use poker odds calculators, but that is not really cheating. My best advice to a poker novice, is to learn as much about poker math as possible, stick to what you learn, but deviate enough to keep it FUN. Just remember, many online players dream of being professional poker players.....99% of them fail miserably. So keep it fun....dont overspend.
