the saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". Now I'm not Christian (quite the contrary) but I will at least listen to a Christian point of view on things, or any other religion or philosophy for the matter. What ever happened to people being respectful of one another?

To me one of the reasons is because of upbringing. Parents nowadays concentrate their children on material knowledge but neglected the teaching of morality.

Some parents thought morality is an inborn ability and require no teaching or practice. I believe this mode of thinking in parents is wrong. Just because parents think killing is bad then sure their son/daughter will grow up and think the same way. This is not so. The same thing that parents cannot think that because they think it is bad to use offensive words/language, then their children will grow up and think the same.

Morality must be educated and cultivated among children at the earliest stage. (And teaching morality among children require techniques, to make it succesful).

You if had seen TV series of the 50's and 60's (like Happy Days), you will see previously parents still emphasize morality on their children (such as using polite words when talking to your parents etc). Now most parents change their attitude and it seems nowadays morality is not important.

If we want things like war to stop, we should begin to learn and teach morality so that every people around the world can respect each other even though they have different belief system.

The only true answer to any religious [ Christian] question can only be from the Bible,
Example; Does Almighty God have a personal; name?
(Exodus 6:3) And I used to appear to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as God Almighty, but as respects my name Jehovah I did not make myself known to them.

In this scripture, there is a positive separation between Almighty God's TITLE and his personal name.
GOD and LORD are TITLES.
Jehovah is the English translation of God's name which appears in the original texts as YHWH, oherwise known as the Tetragrammaton...four letters.

There's a difference between debate and just being a jerk. A lot of folks don't seem to know the line between discussing the merits of an idea and getting personal. I don't think that we need to be so nice as to not disagree, but you're right, there ought to be some fundamental courtesy.
