do you mean chatting as on the Internet? meet them if you like but make sure you have talked a lot spoken on the phone and meet in public and tell someone where you are. trust your instincts.

Well if you have taken it to the phone level and you feel comfortable chatting with them on the phone, then you can maybe meet in a public place. but be very careful. i mean you should get the tag of the car, look at the drivers license, etc. If you feel comfortable enough to ask this question, then you must feel some attraction. and to me thats okay. i would make sure i talk a few times on the phone, and then meet in public. also let someone else know where you are going to meet and the name of this other person. well, i had quite a few dates with chatting friends - they all occured to be geeks and losers looking in real life, but it was quite pleasant to talk with them on the net (before i met them for real of course)

If you trust him/her well enough then go meet up.As precautinoary measures, don't put yourself in a situation where you would be alone with him or her..I mean, during the first meeting, it's best to stay in public places.
