I mean, most just use dating as bragging rights, and more often then not, are ignorant too! I bet 9 out of 10 teenagers don't know who Tony Blair is.

hmmm - do you think it might be because they are teenagers and therefore only half way to maturity?

Some are more mature than others, but teenagers are all trying to find out how to 'be' in the world and that involves making some mistakes.

Yeah, I don't know who Tony Blair is either. Anyway, back to the answer. Well, for me, I used to brag too, maybe cos they had a hard time finding a date and the sense of achievement just comes with a need to let everyone know bout it. That may seem like a brag.

Because they have not lived long enough to have obtain the experience to make sound judgment! That is another reason for parents!

As far as Tony Blair is concerned, neither do a lot of so called adults!

They do not keep up with American politics, let alone England's.

And Tony Blair is the UK Prime Minister so i guess i am that %1 of teens.

Because as a "teen" ager there are in their teens - they are supposed to be immature and finding themselves.. so they don't pay much attention to the world. It is often those children that have grown up feeling very secure about themselves that are able to look outside themselves earlier.

People pay to much attention to "Maturity" for teenagers. It is a difficult time and it is there to bring the gap between childhood and maturity. It's all about how fast you can walk before you can run.

Knowing somebody doesn't make somebody immature, it makes them not know who it is. Let 'em know.

Teens are immature for two reasons. One, they ARE immature, as in, not mature adults yet.

Two, television stations like MTV show the stereotypical teenager as a mook or midriff, which basically says "be a fool" and "sell your body", respectively, thus debilitating a teen's motivation to activate mindful learning and progress through maturity.

Hi, I'm 16, and hope to get on a non-commercial TV channel to express my views of why teens are being led to hell in a handbasket and how they're helping themselves to get there.

EDIT:

Ah. Teens don't care about what's going on in the world because they tell themselves by means of mass media to only care about themselves. Surprisingly, this message is often enforced *even by parents* who have to work double-shifts just to get by, thus not able to be positive influences in their childrens lives, all due to increased hours and lower wages.

Oh, and I completely agree with you. Dating as bragging rights is ridiculous. I hate dating. TO ALL TEENAGERS: DO NOT DATE! It is a waste of precious growing time.
