I used to be in "love" with my now current boyfriend. To make story short, he has said some things in the past that have really hurt my feelings. Now, although he hasn't been saying these things to me...I still feel like those words are still there and gnawing away at me. I want to get better. But, I can't. He has sincerely seemed to have wanted to change, but I hear those words over and over in my head when I look at him or when I kiss him.

I still love him though. I'm so confused. Is a relationship like this mendable, or does it only get worse? I know only my heart can tell the answer to this.

P.S. You can read my other ?'s if you really must know some of the things he has said.

Maybe a period of separation will do some good. Not to necesarily date others but so your head can get clear without him around and you can figure out for sure how you really feel about him. It also will either make him appreciate you or the opposite. Either way it will bring out the truth about how you feel.

Perhaps the issue you are dealing with is underneath the words he said to you. Maybe it's knowing that he is capable of being so hurtful. If it was a one time shot and he said he was sorry and it seemed sincere, I'd forgive and cautiously give it another chance. If he's done it several times, apology or not, he is not sorry and will continue to do this. If this is unnacceptable behavior for you to have a decent relationship (I haven't read your other ?s), then you should tell him and not allow it in your life, even if it means having to let go of the relationship if he doesn't stop. Deliberate hurtfulness is totally uncool in a relationship. It should be about enhancing each others, and our own, lives, not about using the other person to "pay the price" for the wrongs one has experienced by others in the past.
