Atheists have no belief in a god or gods, and that is all that they need to be able to say in order to be atheists. Their opinions on religion vary widely.
My own personal opinion of religion is that any belief not based on evidence can be very dangerous. I do not want religion in our government in any way shape or form, as I think this is the only way to be fair and impartial to all the people. I don't care for religion in general, but I still look at people as individuals. I try to give everyone a chance until they prove me wrong, no matter what group they might be in.
Atheists come here because
1. This section is ABOUT religion and spirituality, it is not FOR the religious.
2. Atheists can be spiritual. Some define themselves as being spiritual atheists, and atheists can also belong to religions like Buddhism or Taoism.
3. Some come here to try and level the playing field and deal with misinformation about atheists, about topics like evolution, about political issues like abortion, stem cell research, and gay marriage, and so on...
There's a lot of reasons people come here. With all due respect, I really don't know why anyone should be unable to see that. I also would expect that the differences between a belief in a god and a belief in the tooth fairy are obvious to anyone. No one has ever waged war or advocated a political stance in the name of the tooth fairy.

The idea of the spirit world is an interesting one. I personally do not rule out the existance of creatures or environments completely devoid of physical existance as we know it. The idea that the universe was created by an intelligent being seems very unlikely to be true- nigh impossible really- but with a lack of serious alternative systems for the spontaneous beginning of, well... everything, I avoid arguement on this topic.
The presence of "a god" is indeed possible, although no good evidence exists for such a creature. Indeed, we would probably have a hard time recognizing such evidence anyway.
Now the God of Abraham, by contrast, definately does NOT exist. He is fiction. His book is fiction. His "son" is probably also fiction. And, even as fiction, he is responsible for more misery, death, and horror than any other concept ever to enter the mind of mankind.
Religion is useful at the tribal level. Perhaps man has outgrown the usefulness of religion. Certainly our depth of knowledge and understanding of the world we live in has surpassed the point of believing the bible's mythology.
An Abrahamic Theist can ask me "how did we get here" and I can honestly say "I'm not sure" without losing any moral ground.
If I ask a Christian "how long have humans dwelled on the earth" he cannot answer me without either losing his footing in science or scripture.
It requires a very high level of either denial or of ignorance to remain a Christian in the modern world. Christians to me are a sad case because many of them are so kind hearted- but so deeply and so intentionally ignorant of the wold they live in.
Worse are those who preach the religions, or who use their religions as tools and weapons of hate. Spreading ignorance and intolerance is the lot of the Minister- witting or otherwise. Spreading peace can truly only be done in the absence of religious doctrine.
To summarise my thoughts on god and religion: God is a fairytale. His religion is a mental illness.
EDIT: You ask why we argue?
As a Satanist, I persist that the most important current goal of mankind should be to eliminate the worship of God for the mutual benefit of all. As a law abiding citizen and as a realist, I must consent to achieve this only in the intellectual arena.
I hope to use my words to ruin the faith of many- defeating Christianity in one bloodless battle after another, to the end of my days. The logical conclusion of atheism is the ethical destruction of religion, and I intend to do my part.

we believe there are no god(s)
As an existentialist I take the following stance on RELIGION:
The question of whether or not God exists is irrelevant. What does matter is what faith in God does for mankind. Since it is mostly (and it is getting harder and harder to believe so) that religion is a positive force in the world, it is a great thing and worth having.

I have a friend who is a self proclaimed athiest--gave me the whole speech about no God--until her daughter was lying in a hospital bed seriously ill. Interesting how she started praying that day. I pretty much got a blank stare from her when I asked who/what she was praying to since she felt there was nothing there. I guess when the times get tough--the tough fall to their knees. By the way--I did pray with her and her daughter recovered.

An atheist believes that there is no god, and no such thing as religion, which I find very practical and correct.

Theism is the belief in a supernatural power such as a god or gods. Atheism (a-theism, get it?) is the lack of such a belief. That's it, that's all. All other connotations of the word are invalid and there are other names for them.

Atheists don't believe god exists and hence believe that religions are man-made.

God doesn't exist and religion is superstition. That pretty much sums it up. There's not a whole lot of complexity to atheism.
