I just bought a big bag of clementines. They seem fresh and tasty, but one of them after a day or so developed tons of mold. Are the others alright to eat? They look alright. I've been letting other people eat them and they don't get sick. Why did this happen?

Yes this happens all the time. Just be sure to rid the buch of the bad one, rinse the others off with cold water and store in a well airrated space that is cool. The reason this happens sometimes is that the fruit gets bruised when it is being packed or picked, in shippind this bruised fruit rotts and by the time you recieve the package it is extremely "furry". If you leave this in the package it will cross contaminate and help the other fruits go bad much faster.

Yes, the others should be fine. Citrus skins are pretty tough. I'm assuming you tossed out the moldy one since it can spread mold to others. Even though there is no mold on the others, there are spores present, so make sure you consume them soon. The toxicity of mold depends on dosage so if you don't see it, it's safe enough to consume.

There is a bad one in most every bunch. Rinse off the outside of the others and keep them refrigerated and they will not mold.

Your funny you let other people eat them....I would have done that....LMAo.....I am guessing the other are still fresh if they don't have any mold!!!!!!
