Here is my advice: I have watched the Discovery Channel for years. Right now there is a series on about the Mount Everest climbers. One of them has no legs and in the next episode is about to reach the summit. He is a double amputee!!!!! And me, being the hot looking chick I am (LOL) am thinking....that is HOT! Where are their more guys with courage and bravery like that!? Then I saw another one on HBO called ON THE HOME FRONT or something like that. It is about a soldier who came home blind. I was so inspired by his story I wrote him a letter and looked for hours on where to send it but I could not get his address. The loss of an eye does not make the man! It is what he is as a person. Yes, he probably is self conscious and all that but if I were him I would use this as a way to show people his courage and ability to overcome hardship (very sexy). He needs to make some friends and get out there and show people how courageous he can be! I can tell you as a woman....we women aren't looking for the guy with two eyes....a guy with just one that can look at us with honesty, respect and know how to please a woman mentally, spiritually and physically is much more appealing! Tell him to get out in this big, great world and realize he is more than how many eyes he has! PS....you are a great brother for caring and asking this question....he already is lucky to have YOU

I am sorry for what he's going thru. Please remind him of the many people that have both eyes and don't have anyone, either. Look at the many celebs that are single. I don't believe in soul mates. He should be thankful he has a CARING sibling in his life like you to share life with. Some don't even have that. Thank you for your love & concern for him. Love & Best Wishes to you guys! {hugs!!!}
Thank you, Amanda, for sharing your answer. Yes, there are many people who have lost different things & still marry & have their own family. Be confident, happy, & let your personality attract someone worthwhile who will see all his other wonderful attributes & features! Blind people marry seeing people, too. So it really won't make a difference to the right girl. If he doesn't have any friends right now, I am sorry if he's lonely without someone other than family. Just remind him to look at some of the celebs & what they go thru with their so-called friends. With the friends that some people have, who needs enemies? Is he able to have a dog or cat? They make great companionship, too!
***Awesome, Perfect Answer XOVEN... !!!*** I Totally agree with "what makes a man.!"
And I like the song, "Measure of a Man" by 4Him. Check out those lyrics! :)

I know a young man who also lost his eye. He now wears a glass eye in the one he lost. It doesn't look that bad and he is getting along ok. He has no problem meeting new friends. I don't know if your brother will be able to wear a glass eye or not, but try to stay close to him and keep saying positive things to him.

He does have a friend, and that is you. Do not let him be alone. Get him out and about with your friends. Do you have common ground with educational interests and hobbies? Get involved with something together. There are alot of people out there (girls included) who have similar problems who may also need a friend. Get him to go back to school, volunteer, or attend a church. Just continue to be there for him as your brother and friend, and he will eventually come out of his shell and be a happier person.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother's accident, he will get past this though. There are always support groups he can become involved with, they will help him understand he's no different even if people don't show their wounds on the outside they still have them. Physical scars are difficult to deal with for sure and I wish him luck.

Tell him there is no reason to lose hope for a happy and fullfilling life. My older brother (who is now 41) lost his eye when he was a teen and is doing fine now. He has 2 grown children and is happily married.
Does your brother have a glass eye? Mine did and when he was wearing it no one could even tell it wasnt real.

This is what is family for! ..you and your family must support him ..you don't have to be his only family ,but his friends as well ... try to encourage him ,,,but don't treat him with over sympathy so he would feel handicapped ...just try to get him go back to school or college ....most important things show your love to him and, let him feel he is needed as well . make it clear that you support him because he is your brother and not because he lost his eye....

My best friend's co-worker lost his eye this year in a sporting accident. He has a really kick *** and outgoing personality, and it totally makes me forget he wears an eyepatch.
