They say god inflicts pain and suffering to make a man worship him and to make him a good man altogether, but most of the people i have seen who went thru such a cycle of suffering have either gone isane or became more bitter towards life. So do you think this is the right way of god to punish innocent humans for making them nice and subservient.

I don't think God inflicts pain and suffering. I believe God set up the system of karma and reincarnation which makes each of of responsible for our own actions. If we make a bad decision or put forth an ill thought out cause, we must suffer the effect. We bring the pain and suffering upon ourselves. Sometimes there is "instant karma" whereby it comes back and bites us in the butt immediately. (If you set someone's house on fire and got burned in the process, would you ask why God let that happen to you?)Most often you live out your karma in your next reincarnation and are unaware of why all of these "bad things" are happening. God doesn't want to punish us and make us subservient, he wants us to come back home. He gives us lifetime after lifetime after lifetime to learn the lessons of our bad decisions and make good decisions so we can break the cycle of reincarnation and ascend back into heaven.

This is one of the nice e-mails I received and I would like to share it with you

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God.

The barber said: "I don't believe that God exists." "Why do you say that?" asked the customer. "Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist." "How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers do exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me." "Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, does exist! That's what happens when people do not go to him and don't look to him for help. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

God gave us life. God doesn't need us to worship him, that is a human emotion that we assign to God. God gave us the gift of life and free will. Our choices are what may result in pain or suffering. God will love us no matter what. I believe that it hurts God when we do the wrong things, but God is benevolent and generous. Life isn't easy - if it were, then this would be Heaven.

Subservient, yes. That's what it is all about. That and the great meat meals that the priests get when the flock sacrifices the prime lamb, beef and chicken.

It's not punishment if you believe you chose your life before you got here. How would we learn as human beings if everything was pleasure and good......we learn through the negativity, and we learn about negativity itself as the other side is nothing but positive and good.
