DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get him anything until he is out of Boot Camp. What ever he has with him when he gets there will be put in a box and shipped back home, even whatever glasses he may be wearing. The Military will have everything he needs there. And above all, do not semnd him any kind of care package while he is at Boot Camp. He may be made to eat the entire box until it is all gone or until he pukes. This happened to my brother when he was in the corps. He will get to make one phone call home to let you know that he has made it there and then you won't hear anything from him for quite a while but rest assure, he will be in good hands. When he contacts you, he will tell you what you can and can not send him. Just be patient.

I even have been in over 11 years and have on no account regarded back. one element to think of roughly however, you will cut back your interest alternatives to what's obtainable at that element. The greater versatile you're including your deliver date, the greater alternatives you have. good success!

They won't let him keep anything personal at boot camp. But, he would be allowed to keep a Bible or Quran. Get a medium sized Bible for him and in the margin of the pages, in tidy script, write little messages throughout of encouragement, good humor and companionship. Get other family members and friends to add their notes, too.

A picture of you and him together. A silly gift of something that will make him smile or laugh when he sees it. A conversation between you and him from your heart . . . that will stay with him like no other. Share some silly sibling memory, tell him how you love him and and feel gifted with being his sister. Smile and share a dear family hug with him. . . gifts to the heart / soul are precious gift to take forward. That type of gift (conversation from the heart) will actually be a gift for both of you while your away from each other and will be remembered for years to come even after any other 'tangible' gift has been maybe lost to the side.

There are really some pathetic people on here.
Not everyone is in a combat job anyway you idiots!!!
Ok sorry, that made me mad though.
The best thing you can do for him is write him often when he is in boot camp. If you catch yourself saying "...I would but I'm busy and haven't had the time" then shame on you! Imgaine what he's going through....sit down, and write him.

Well, anything and everything he wears is going to be shipped right back. I know, because I was in naval basic training. So, instead of material goods, family time is about as precious as it will get because once he leaves, you won't have that much time with him unless he gets stationed near you, which would really be the advantage for your family.

Just tell him you love him and support his decision to protect America. He is a brave man to do what he is doing. No one demanded he join the Marines. He is doing it because he loves you, his family and his country. He is doing it to keep the Muslim heathens from coming here and killing those he loves. He is doing it so that freedom will remain alive here and in places it's threatened. He is a very special man. He is one in 300 Americans who is willing to step up and say "I will defend my country with my life." I applaud him and am forever in his debt for my freedom. May God bless your brother and keep him safe.

I think you should get him a photo album. Then stick pictures in it of all the friendly past times. He won't forget you that way. Also stick in a note saying you'll miss him. It's a way to say I LUV U!

A pocket sized book containing the scriptures of your faith. Marines are a very religious bunch. If he isn't now, I promise you he will be, and he will be happy to have his own foundation of faith with him.
