This is the way I comprehend what the bible says about blaphemy. Blasphemy against the Son of Man Meaning Jesus is forgiven, but Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is not forgiven. So Jesus was referring to "knowledge". He is saying that when someone has recieved the Holy Spirit and then speaks against it. It will not be forgiven! But if someone who has never known God and speaks against him it is forgiven right? Sense a person had knowledge of God and chose to speak against him it is unforgiven. So what is the difference between a reprobate mind and Blasphemy? Or are they basically the same? A reprobate mind is when someone has crossed the point of no return!

Why is this too deep? Is this not the religion and spirituality section? If you don't want to hear it why answer? If you don't believe in God why even come in this section? The question I asked was about a verse found in the book of Matthew. So I'm not out of bounds here!

The unforgivalbe sin is when we freely refuse God in our lives after we know God to exist. It is a sin against the Holy Spirit .

When an adult who has full knowledge of the law and has no major psychological impediments, or is not forced, freely chooses to murder, that person is fully responsible.
It a child of three is told not to play with their parents' gun and somehow takes advantage of a situation and is able to use the gun to kill someone, that child is not responsible for their act.
So too with us. For our actions to be unforgivable: it must be serious; we must know it is serious; and we must have full consent of our will.
If a person has never had knowledge of God but lives a good life according to their conscience, then that person does not sin because they are not be responsibe for something they know not about. We call this Baptism of desire. They desire to live a good life and do so even though they have never heard about God.
When one crosses the point of no return, one wonders if their state of mind was clear, if there was full consent of the will.

To a large extent I agree with you.I agree that in the knowledge of God any unrecanted blasphemy or sin against the Holy Spirit is not forgiveable. You might however have commited the sin in ignorance which is a different case. Ultimately any sin whatsoever that anyone commits and subsequently genuinely repents and seeks forgiveness in the proper way will be forgiven because if that happens a new set of beliefs have come into play and the person is sort of 'born again'. Which is what I believe Christ our Lord also meant at that time and which I believe is valid for all time

Actually, think of about this. Why did Jesus say what He did at that time. He was performing miracles through the Power of God, but there were some Pharisees said it was done through the devil. Jesus response was in regard to what the Pharisees had said. What does it mean to blapheme against the Holy Spirit? There are some people who are so hardened in their heart and reprobate in mind, that if they saw the works of God, they call it the devil. The Pharisees called the work of the Holy Spirit the working of the devil. This is why Jesus said they will never be forgiven. Because they are so darkened and blind in their hearts they never be able to recognize salvation or repentance.

I think that God knows your heart and your mind better then even you yourself. I think if you've made a mistake no matter how big or small if you really mean that you are sorry and you repent and never do it again I believe God will forgive you. However if you ask for forgiveness but you don't repent then I don't think you are forgiven because you didn't repent. An example of this I would say is Saul in the Bible. He went around blaspheming God and killing Christians and yet when He repented and asked for forgiveness God forgave Saul. God judges one's mind, body, and soul, all the time everywhere He is all knowing. God is a Loving,Caring, Patient, Merciful God. However at the same time God is a Jealous God and His rage should be feared by all.

What a load of cobblers. The reason we think this is possible comes from a total misunderstanding of what The Spirit is all about. The Spirit of eYSHUA is the personification of Love. As mortals we have a limited understanding of the concept but we do understand to some extent love of family members’ especially parental love for children. In fact I am sure most other people understand that concept a bit better than I do. We can not really understand unconditional Love although many of us claim to know what it is.

Consider just what it would take to make you as a parent hate your children and then magnify your love 1x10100 . Perhaps this is a numerical notation that is new to you. It means 1with 100 zeros following it. Considering the vastness of our cosmos perhaps this number is a bit too small.

The unforgivable sin is most clearly presented in Heb 6:4-8.

It's the "escape clause" for Christians, and it makes it very clear that you can't ever repent and be restored to salvation.

The unforgivable sin for those who have never been Christians is simply to never receive Christ's gift of redemption. For Christians it is to "defect" from the faith with full knowledge of the implications involved (no coming back).

The reason why blasphemy against Christ can be forgiven and blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not is because it is the Holy Spirit that imparts truth directly to our spirit. Thus the responsibility for the decision is "carved in stone".

Ah, like what Satan did. That makes sense. How ever, I translated that to mean some thing else....

I believe " Blasphemy against the Spirit " to mean that if you go through you life doing evil, believe that all you have to do is say a quick prayer of forgiveness when near death, you has not be saved.

How ever, I find you definition just as valid. If in your mind you know God for a fact and still chose to speak against him, then you're going to hell. Interesting.....I'm going to hell.

Best wishes.

The way I always looked at this is that when you turn so far against the spirit of God so as to lose any chance of hearing his voice you can no longer be saved no matter what you do, save by turning back into the light.

I think that blasphemy against the spirit is rejecting God, in other words, refusing the holy spirit when it calls you.

Maybe everyone gets a chance. Those who ignore the holy spirit will not be forgiven because they have rejected God by blaspheming against his counselor that tried to draw them to him.

So God saying I tried to draw you but you rejected me. Is the same as blasphemy against the spirit.

Because to blaspheme Jesus is to speak against his name or him. But to blaspheme the spirit is to turn from God, thereby ignoring it.

The Elect of God have the Seal of God in their foreheads. This is the truth of the Word of God. Jesus Christ is the Word of God. No person who is of the Elect can commit the unforgivable sin. Why would they? They are co-heirs along with Jesus Christ. Everything is theirs. they can't even bring themselves to sin in that fashion. Its not in them.

Only the Elect can commit the unforgivable sin.><>
