is there a God....yes....someone had to create something from nothing....aka the big bang theory. that fact alone shows there is a God as something can't be created from nothing unless its a super power or being.
does God exist as the Bible, Koran, etc speak of? no....if one researches them more they will realize they are nothing more than rewrittings of the ancient text that is passed down generation after generation. They are actually star charts and talk about the journey of the earth thru the heavens on its course around the milkway and the journey of the milkway thru the universe. The Mayan calandar is based on this same principle along with at least 30 other books, languages and religions. If one does the homework they will easily realize how each item connects to the next like a puzzle.
example: old egypt.....Amen-ra was the Sun God. Today we say Amen to God and we mention a Son of god. Well we are talking multiple translations over time, language, even from a sign and image language into the written word. There was no such thing as a "son" back in older languages, they were male or female children or youth. Not until around 1400's did the term "son" become part of the written and spoken language. WELL after the time of Jesus and the writing of the bible.
Plus with this you have......Ra left over from the Amen-Ra.....you have the God of weath, Isis, and other countries back then called Amen-Ra, El.
So now we have Ra, El, and Isis or Is. Now move them around and what do you get? Israel....gee....wasn't that too simple. Research the Zionists movement and understand how Israel really came to be and why.

There's no evidence to suggest any part of our consciousness continues to exist outside of our living brain. So what happens to you when you die is that you cease to exist.
