Soy can damage your health. Read the articles on Dr Mercola's website listed here:

Whey protein is definately better for you and absorbs quickly. Especially whey protein isolate. You will find whey protein for sale at most health food stores and certainly at GNC. The prices really aren't the best there and you can easily get better prices on line. Stick to name brands like EAS, AST-SS, Optimum, Labrada, etc. These all have a decent taste. Don't go with the GNC house brands as they taste terrible.

One place that I have shopped at that has good prices is:

They beat anyone else's online price by 5% if they don't already have a lower price.

Your body doesn't actually care where the protein came from. If it's there to be used, the body uses it, and if it's not it doesn't. The only benefit a concentrated protein offers is that it doesn't contain the fats that meat does, and if you are a vegetarian it doesn't come from an animal source. Other than that, your body just doesn't care. Protein from whey/dairy and protein from soy are still just protein in the final breakdown. From experience, dry pure protein powder is nasty tasting stuff. You can buy it in natural food stores and those megavitamin shops like GNC. Can't recommend it myself, plus it's pricey. But there is no big difference the body so the choice is all yours.

Neither, the best most bio-avaible source of protein, and it just so happens to be vegetarian, is Hemp. You can get this just about anywhere now in different flavors too. I have used quite a few brands and they are all good. You can also get blends that have a few sources like rice, pea, hemp, and sometimes a little soy in there. I have read many things for and against soy. I think that if you use it exclusively in excess every day for years then there may be cause for concern. Hemp also has essential fatty acids that breaks down fat and balances mood.

You want Whey. Eat it within half an hour of working out. Go to GNC with a buddy because they usually have buy one get one free. Just get the store brand. I mix vanilla powder with ice and a large scoop of peanut butter. You could also get frozen berries at the supermarket instead of using ice. You'll need something to mask the awful taste, that's for sure.
