I worked with an atheist who complained to me that our receptionist kept telling him he was going to hell if he didn't believe in God. It unnerved him and I thought it was very unprofessional conduct on the receptionist's part. I'm certainly NOT an atheist but it's not my place to make any comment on whether one is or isn't to receive salvation and I don't believe in hell anyway. I find it appalling that someone would be judged in the workplace or fired for their beliefs.

My stepfather was just FIRED from his job for being an open atheist in a VERY religious town. They tried to make up other reasons but none of them washed and even Unemployment agreed with my dad and told him that they did not think he was fired for any good reason. He is trying to sue them but as i mentioned the area is ridiculously Christian and he would NEVER get very far.
Now, after being at a job he loved for over 7 years and NEVER having ANY problems and only EXEMPLARY reviews from both his bosses and fellow employees, he is trying to find a new job in a VERY unpleasant environment for NO other REASON than the fact that he is an ATHEIST!

We have a list of oh, maybe 10. But it keeps changing so it's hard to keep track. Mine includes: Adien Brody Edward Norton James McAvoy Christian Bale among others.... I see people, I add them to the list. It may be up to a couple hundred by now.

I'd say it depends on what type of job they have and where they live. If they live around a lot of Christians that go by the bible and nothing else (and don't try to reason on top of that), then they're deffinitely going to have a hard time. But if they live near people that are more accepting, then it won't be that bad.

No really, not that I can think of - generally, because you can sue the mistreater's a** at workplace. But look how aggressive Christian terrorists are here...

I take care of all the religious abuse in my workplace.
Though I do think my boss's wife threw out my copy of "wired" in the bathroom that had "The New Atheism" on the cover....
I live in WA State and we have an abnormally high number of atheists though

I haven't. I don't keep it a secret. But I also don't bring it up unless I am fairly sure about who I am talking to. Mostly, religion is just not appropriate workplace conversation.

No, I'm smart enough to know never to bring up religion in the workplace. If you haven't learned that, I pity you.

I don't usually tell anyone, because I don't want to get preached to.
I know that as an Atheist, I am out numbered.

That's a good question... I guess the question should be reverted back to yourself as that's really where it began and find out why you asked the question in the first place.
