I have been sick for the last 25 days. It started out as flu like symptoms, then I had a double ear infection. I took antibiotics and was feeling much better. Now, I again, have a terrible sore throat. I recently moved into a new house and am starting to worry I am having an allergic reaction to something? Any thoughts?

If you have a post nasal drip from allergies it can certainly irritate your throat and cause it to hurt. You could try some otc allergy medications to see if it helps. Hope you feel better.

It could be ,you have an antibiotic resistant strain of streptococcus. Go to your doctor and have them culture your throat and find out what medicine they need to give to you. In the meantime clean your bedroom thoroughly from ceiling to floor.Wash curtains and all the windows, walls and baseboards and vacuum thoroughly.Sometimes when people get a new house they buy new bedding, did you get down pillows or comforter for your bed? Lots of allergies come from that. Good Luck

See your physician for follow up and throat culture to check if it's strep. Although the antibiotics may have alleviated some symptoms, you may have had more that one condition going on simultaneously. You made need another series of antibiotic therapy. Call your doctor!

actually an allergic reaction can take the form of tightness in the throat because the throat's tissue becomes inflammed. What you'll feel is tightening, which will lead to difficulty breathing not a sore throat.Have you had your tonsils out?

Kudzu has traditionally been used for a variety of condition including migraine, hypertension (high blood pressure), pain and stiffness in the neck and shoulders, allergies, and angina. It is both a treatment for hangover, and a substance that reduced the urge to drink alcohol.

How clear are your sinuses? If they are stuffy it may just be mouth breathing causing the problem. If you suspect allergies I'd advise allergy testing, I had this done & my chronic colds turned out to be allergies to dust, feathers, mold, etc.
Yes, allergies can cause sore throat.

Good Luck & hope you feel better soon.

Mold and/or mildew? These are serious. Have your house checked for these.

And go back to see your doctor one more time. It's possible that he didn't give you enough antibiotics to kill the virus.
