If you're planning on coming before X-mas or New Years than it's worth it even if it's really cold, the decorations, holiday spirit, etc.. Jan through March can be really rough and depressing. That's probably the worst time you could come here weather wise. Walking around is just not fun and it can be really windy on a lot of streets. When it snows, it's usually brown slush and ice by the next day. You slide off the sidewalk into 8 inch pools of dirty slush. It can be really messy. Some of March can be hit or miss so it's safer just to wait until April if you don't want to deal with the cold. A couple of years ago, it stayed chilly and yucky until late May/early June but that was not normal.

It really depends on where you are coming from and what your tolerance to cold is!
For example - today it is a relatively warm 56 degrees - much warmer than a lot of the major cities! And it has not snowed here yet!
You could come in spring and it will be warmer, but it could also rain every day! The weather is so unpredictable here, so make your plans for the time that is most convenient for you and I am sure you can make the best of it! There are so many great indoor attractions - museums, theater, landmarks, etc... That you don't have to spend all of your time outside!

It depends where in New York you're going to go. The weather is always cold and the snow is terrible but in Manhattan the snow is slush and the snow on the sides of the streets is dirty. In other parts of New York it's clean but cold. I live in New York and the weather just takes away from the experience; i recomend holding the tickets till spring.

New York is the best at Christmas time! You can go skating and see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center which is alot of fun. You can see the Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall with the Rockettes. There are wonderful Broadway shows to see. So many things to do!
Yes, it can get cold but the lights, the sounds, everything at this time of year is incredible in NYC.

To be honest with you, New York is actually enticing all year round- and I'm not just saying that 'cause I'm from New York 8) It depends more on your personal taste, and where in New York you're staying. Most traditional activities are available year round, though, and there are specific seasonal activities planned for the New Yorker or tourists in addition.

These sites are informative, especially about your seasonal problem. Research what's happening in each season, and which has the most activities that appeal to you the most.

NO it may be cold but there is other things to do there is broadways to go see very good resturants to try that are very good. and why not go sledding if you have not went who cares if you are an adult you have to try at least one time in your life. Why not go see the building take building tours those are inside. THE MACY PARADE THEY HAVE IT FOR CHRISTMAS TOO I THINK AT LEAST I THINK THEY HAVE A CHRISTMAS PARADE. I THINK. THER IS TONS TO DO IN NEW YORK.
IF you really want to hold for spring go ahead that is fine you will be able to do more things then anway but there is things to do in the winter so if you want to go then go if you want to hold it then hold it.Either way you will enjoy yourself alot there. IF you go IN WINTER PACK A BUNCH OF CLOTHES BC YOU WILL HAVE TO DOUBLE UP ON THE CLOTHES TRUST ME. SO PACK FOR A COLD WINTER OK. YEAH SINCE YOU WILL BE THERE FOR CHRISTMAS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND THEY ARE GREAT!

I've lived here for nearly 50 years. Go for it. If you postpone things you may never have it happen again. Strike while the iron is hot (and the weather cold!)
