Well, he is jealous, I'm sure. This should fade with time, but here is what you need to do.
If you are actually dating someone .. ... as in exclusively, you need to be honest with them right up front. Tell them the truth about what happened in the past (w/other guy). If they are on guard that he could say nasty things about you, then they will know that it is a jealousy thing and just brush it off.
Honesty is always the best policy and it says alot about his character (NOT) if he is spreading nasty rumors about you. Stand up tall and don't stoop to that level. Ignore it and it will fade away.

In the future, don't put your x and no one remotely connected to your x in your business. It doesn't matter if your brother, sister , best girlfriend or best male friend are bestfriends or talk to your x on a casual. The next time you go out with someone, noone should not not know about it. And keep it that way. When you feel comfortable in your new relationship, tell your new man, that your x will try to sabotage your relationship. Give the new man the heads up so just in case he will know how to handle the situation. If you deal with this the right way, you won't have any problems.
And remember, Do not advertise your business. The left hand should not be knowing what the right hand is doing.

Could it be you weren't very nice to him when you broke up? If he was your best friend why did you break up with him? It sounds like you hurt him and now he's getting back at you. Maybe you broke up with him on a whim or for another guy? Not much you can do in reality, but try being the adult and ignoring him. Eventually he will get tired of it or guys will get tired of his whining. Most guys wouldn't listen to an x bf ***** about the girl who got away.

He won't love you alone until he's over you. Get another girl interested in him and then with any luck he'll go out with her and forget about you.
And think about this for a minute if it had been the other way around. Don't you get upset when a guy dumps you? And if you've never tried to ruin his chances with other people, you've at least thought about it.
And you could try talking to him, especially if he used to be your best friend.

I'm kinda confused..first u say he broke up w/ you..then u say you cut him loose...what happened?
All I can say is to find a way to keep your dates away from him....get out of the ordinary dating circle where everyone knows each other.

You should try talking to him. He probably won´t listen, but it should be your first move. If it doesn´t work. Just ignore it, tell the guys you are dating, that he didn´t take it so well. If they trust him rather than you, then it´s better to move forward.

Tell your parents, a teacher, or your counselor. That will straighten him up very fast.

Kick him in the nads! Or talk to him and ask why he's doing it to you and how you feel about it.
