My bf of 5 years is going to be away for 3 yrs to study and I would like to give him something to remember me by. Hope it can serve as a motivation for him to study hard as well, so it has to be something he can 'see' or come into contact with.

Please serious answers only. No stupid answers like "offer yourself to him.." and such. Thanks

A scrap book full of all ur memories in the way of photo's, any tickets or stuff u have kept over the years and anything that means something to you. That way when he misses you he only has to look through the book and all the memories will come flooding back.

Give him his freedom. Actually more accurately, give YOU YOUR freedom. 3 years is waaaay too long. It's great that he made a life choice and knows what he wants, but obviously the relationship with you took a back seat to it. I would NEVER wait around for a guy who put me last in his life like this. I'd tell him that you cannot put your life on hold because he chose something other than you and that maybe when he gets back he should call you and see if you're still single.

Ms.Mad the only thing I would give him is the door.Because while he's trying to travel and s*** he's not thinking nothing about your feelings I mean I know he is trying to further his education but why he couldn't go to school up there where y'all stay at. I think not only is that an excuse to get away from his family and you I also think that, that's away to move on with his life find some other woman because he's probably tired of you.

I recommend you purchase two necklaces that share a broken heart down the center. The first reason for this is that you can think of eachother whenever you wear them. The second reason is that you have something to gauge his fidelity when you get the opportunity to visit him. If your pendant and chain look worse for the wear compared to his, chances are that he may not have been wearing his in your absence. Granted, this may or may not mean he has been faithful, but it helps.
I'm cynical sometimes, but I prefer to be cautious.

How about a bracelet with yours & his name engraved on the front?
You can engrave the back with something like I love you or to remember me by.

A 3G phone, so that we two still can see each other when talking through the mobile phone.

I thought a photograph of both of you will be an ideal gift as it can consistantly remind him that you are always there for him
