ever seen the mona lisa? or starry night?

how would you describe these portraits to someone who is blind?

It would take you a thousand words just to describe the texture, and then a thousand more to explain the color variances from one shade to the next in total technical aspect just so the blind person could experience what it looked like.

seeing it is so much simpler to be able to describe, but then that poor blind guy is left out in the loop.

It means that one picture can tell a story faster and better than a thousand words. For instance, which will give you a better idea of how my room looks? Me describing it? I'd certainly leave out details, by accident and on purpose. But if I took a picture of it and showed it to you, you'd have a much better idea.

Words have one meaning. Seeing a picture has a different meaning for every person. Each persons interpretation of a picture defines it to them.

Write a thousand word essay on how a beautiful sunset affects you emotionally! Look at a painting of a beautiful sunset! Do you cognitively analyze why you think it is beautiful, or do you simply keep your mouth shut, and enjoy the feeling?

it means that no matter how you describe something it doesn't do it justice, nor is it completely accurate while a picture is completely accurate.
