No you can not light a match while you are on the aircraft. I am assuming you are asking this question due to the recent news story of a women how lit a match on a flight to cover up her flatulence.

you are after your 15 minutes of fame at a very young age. If your hot your hot there is no need to light a match when there is an impossibility to find someone who is a match for you.

No, here is a great recent article about it (a news website):

Basically this woman lit some safety matches to hide the smell of her fart. . .And the plan ended up making an emergency landing in Nashville.

Yes. You can do anything you want on a flight.

And then get shot by US marshalls and beat up by everyone else on the flight that didn't want to make an emergency landing because one person was so stupid.

you can, but you shouldn't. can't imagine a more effective way to draw attention to yourself, to make people see you as a security and safety risk. think of all those oxygen masks ready to be deployed, think of the crowded conditions and flammable reading materials. why would you even want to??

considering that a book/box of matches can be turned into a small explosive device by separating the heads from the sticks, you probably have to surrender them before boarding anyhow.

You can, but you will be arrested once that flight lands. Well, maybe before it lands if a Federal Air Marshal is on your flight.

I can remember when you could smoke on a plane--good grief, I am old.

Why the would you do this? This is a very silly question to me and I certainly hope you know the answer to this question and are just joking around.
