In this day and age digital is the way to go. Megapixels determine how great of quality the image will appear the larger you want to make it. Now the 7.2 and higher MP cameras are out but you would only need all of those pixels if you wanted to make your image say 40"x27". If you want proffessional quality pics then get a digital canon Rebel or Nikon SLR. If not then get a 5MP or higher Point n Shoot digital. Check the below website for ratings nad reviews on all cameras. Goodluck!

It depends on the camera sensor, the film, the lenses, the printing, and the photographer.
There are probably some 5mp cameras that produce better pictures than some manual film cameras.
Film has a different quality than digital. Some people find this easy to discern, and some see no difference.
I use and enjoy both film and digital.

If the final picture size is 3x5 or 4x6 then both would be fine in my opinion. If you enlarge them to 10x12 then the manual with film would be better. Of course the film type plays a lot in this as well as the optics of the lens and the light source. Oh and how well you focus with the manual lens.

I have a 6MP digital camera. I still like the pic quality of the film camera better.

Well, may be it's the printer that makes it bad.
