the best way??? It all depends on the person. Some say meds, some say shrink. Shrinks in my opinion are a waste of time and money. Why would I wanna talk to a stranger about my life. I know they get paid to listen...Most of them have no idea what depression really feels like. Thereare so many different ways that ppl suffer from depression. Myself dealing with depression for about 10 yrs if not longer. I am on meds and they do help somewhat. I also suffer from fibromyalgia and insomnia....all wrapped in together. This is not just an emotoional issue, this is also a physical issue. It really can make u feel real crappy. Body aches, headaches, insomnia, anxiety...plus so much more. I could talk to a therapist until Im blue in the face. You only tell them what you want them to know....how can they diagnose that. First off u need to know that u accept and realize that u suffer from depression. Working on the issues in ur life help somewhat. I am a single parent of 5 children and I do have a lot of stress...but I am a lot happier than what I was when I wasnt single. But I still have depression....Im not sure that it ever really goes away, u just learn a little more on how to handle it as time goes by. But thats my opinion on it.

Although verbal communication may be the best route to working through your depression, you may not be ready for your feelings to be exposed, however you do need to let them out and I believe the best way to do that is to write it down, write a letter to God or a family member or friend who passed away or even yourself, you will be amazed how good it feels just to relieve it from your system. You just have to remind yourself that things will get better and in a few years from now whatever it is that is upsetting you may not even matter. It is also very helpful to exercise and release the tension inside. Keep yourself occupied with activities - just whatever you do - don't listen to sad music or watch sad movies or even the news because it will start a snowball effect-try to stay positive and when you are ready consult with a friend or family or even a stranger. Cry if you have to, but let it out.

I find that writing out random thoughts in a notebook helps. Just writing to get it out in the open and to come to terms with it. Most of the time I don't even know what's bothering me until I start just putting things down on paper that come to mind. Sometimes it's hard to get started so start with making up lines of wise advice and from there things should just come out.

If you're not a writer, try talking out loud while taking a walk in a park by yourself. If you get emotional that's ok because you're by yourself but you're talking about it, realizing it and facing it head on.

If neither of these appeal to you maybe talking to a professional or a very close friend who just listens and is very comforting.

The important thing is to get it out all the negative emotions some how.

FIrst if you are going through depression because of a family or personal set back , its normal as long as you get through it after a few weeks. You need to give yourself time to feel sad when bad things happen, you need time to heel. Keep yourself occupied and make sure you take good phsyical care of yourself. Time will heal the wounds.

"kind of bad" could mean a lot of different things. Seriously bad? Crying all the time kind of bad? Sleeping all the time or not able to sleep at all kind of bad?

If I've hit on your symptoms, it's time to visit your doctor. You may need an antidepressant, and your doc can help with that. Or, he/she could refer you to a specialist who deals with these things.

On a general note for lighter "feeling kinda bad" symptoms, you can try doing nice things to pamper yourself. Time at the gym, or other exercise, get your hair done, etc.

And maybe you have a good friend or a counselor or pastor you could talk with, to work your way through.

First thing is to decide how bad "kind of bad" really is.

one of the best ways is through friends talking about an issue is a big thing but it is the best way to feel better because your brain needs to process what it's going through and talking is the best way.....talk to your best friend or your pet or a stuffed animal even as long as you let it out you should feel better let me know if this helped

Looking for the answer to that question myself. Wish there was a quick easy cure. Shoot, I would even take a sharp stick in the eye, if i knew it would help!

Anyway, stay away from people and places that bring you down. get out and do things, even when you dont want to. Do things to pamper yourself, and remind yourself that you deserve to be happy. Hope something here might be helpful. SMILE....For a while!

Talking to someone..wether it be a professional or a friend or family member..getting the feelings out is better than keeping them all in.
