Turn your eye or look the other way? My friend's brother reccently was abused by his father (heck, he was abused for a long time, we just found out). Apperently, his mother had been trying to look the other way, saying he deserved it... What would YOU do? Really. Answer HONESTLY.

Btw, sorry to ask all these questions in one day. My friend's reccently discovered her son's abuse and my bro's reccently discovered his friend's abuse. We come from a town where policework is non-existant and sloppy.

At the MINIMUM you should report this to the local Child Protection Agency. They even have anonymous tips if you don't want to give them your name.

I would do more than that though. Let the police know even if they won't do anything in case it escalates. At least they'll then have motives and reasons to believe if something worse happens. Good luck.

I would not turn a blind eye. If the child is a minor, I would contact Child Protective Services and tell them of the ongoing abuse. You also do not need to call your local police if they are sloppy and untrustworthy. There is the State Police or the Sheriff Department, both have jurisdiction in your town. Call them and stop this abuse. No matter what the boy has done, he does not deserve to be beaten.

I wouldn't turn the other way. And saying a child deserves it. That B**** is just as guilty as the abuser, they both need to be thrown in jail and torutred.

Be there for your friend and offer him a safe place to stay.

*If someone abused my daughter they better hope that I don't find them. Turn the other cheek and forgiveness isn cases like this wouldn't exist for me, though an eye for an eye would.

That's a poor excuse for a mother. If a parent was any kind of a parent at all they would NEVER look the other way....whether it is a biological or step parent doing the abuse...NO human being deserves to be abused in any way.

I dunno if this holds any merit for ya, but it happened to me. I had a horribly abusive stepdad, physically and emotionally. He was such a sociopath that he had us all brainwashed into thinking we deserved it. He destroyed my mother's self esteem and when we told her what happened when she was at work, she couldn't help us because she was so abused too. He lied and manipulated her into thinking we had done wrong and deserved it. Classic sociopath. To outsiders, he was charming and a wonderful parent. To us, he was much different. It is a horrible situation. So that might explain why it can go unnoticed for so long. If I found out someone was treating my child the same way I was treated, I would be in jail and they would be dead.

ignorance is not bliss. step in, offer him a shoulder or a place to stay. the mother deserves a good slap upside the head for allowing it to happen.

Whomever "looks the other way" is deemed just as guilty as the abuser. Report it right away.......
