The Book of Revelation (or the Apocalypse), is full of extravagant symbolism. Symbolic language was very popular in Jewish & Christian circles from 200BC to 200AD. The Book isn't literal. Apocalyptic writings uses symbolic colors & numbers as well as writings. The #6 signifies imperfection.

This information is based upon theologians of all faiths even tho my source is the Catholic bible. The theologians consider what is happening historically & what it appears is the reason for the particular book of the bible to be written. Usually books of the bible of this nature are a result of a crisis taking place. In this instance, it is believed that it is in response to the religious persecution taking place against the early christians by the Romans.

The New American Bible which is the Catholic bible gives the historical information taking place at the time the books of the bible were being written. The explanations are written before each book of the bible. Catholic and other theologicans have worked together in determining which books of the bible can be considered historical in nature or symbolic or parables, etc, based upon customs, historical events, the writer (if known), the language being used in the original & who knows what else.

Of the literal prophetic meaning I do not know. Historically, the meaning appears to be the name "Nero." Who oppressed Christians. The Spirit seems to assert to me, that, because 666 is a repeat three times of the number of man, and with the importance of the "Our Father" and the various praises contained in that very book (Revelation) that you should not worship, the kingdom of man, the power of man, or the glory of man. Amen.

Yeah, I heard they have another book that wasn't included in the Bible but written in that same timeframe and it says the number is 616. It's really so much bunk. And I hear it's part of why America has resisted national ID's for so long - imagine how easy it would be to tell, say, illegal immigrants from legal if we had this common expedient that Europe's been doing for, what, 10 years? and we're so afraid some poor slob's going to get smeared with this ID with those fearsome three digits in it?

It is the mark of the beast , and we are getting close to have chips put in us . It is no mistake that they came up with a chip for dogs and cats to track them if they get lost. Those chips have all the information they need if some one finds your animal and use a scanner to read the chip.
We are making it easier for the chips to be installed in us. The pressure for people to use debit cards instead of cash.
It would not surprise me that somewhere in the "Patriot Act" that they have options of marking US citizens in some form or another.
Do you know that if you don't have a real address you can no longer apply for Credit Cards you can't use a P.O. Box it is to hard to trace that is part of the "Patriot Act"

666 as explained in text is the mark of the coming Antichrist and would be put on those that do his bidding or they would not be allowed to work, shop, own property, do anything. It is either bow down to the Antichrist or starve and be tortured to death for your beliefs in Jesus Christ & our Father.
It says that he shall rule for 42 months - 3 1/2 years,- that's a long time. In the future make sure you know what is being put into your hand or forehead it may come as a sad surprize later!

in hebrew, the number 6 represents falling short of God, of wholeness, because that's what the number seven represents (wholeness, or completeness) 666 simply means incomplete, seperate from God. it is not "the devils number" and it is not a foretelling of the "antichrist"

people need to be careful when reading the book of revalations, it is VERY easy to misinterpret it.there are a lot of things in there that shouldn't be taken at face value.

I believe we are headed for that time soon. They are implanting microchips into people now. It is going to happen. If people don't get on board with Jesus they will have to take the mark of the beast. If they don't take it they will go to heaven.
